Queen Amidala is a skilled leader who is committed to maintaining her people's way of life. She is a peaceful leader who always looks for the solution that requires the least amount of military action. Although she has been trained most of her life to enter into a leadership role, the Trade Federation blockade and certain invasion will put her skills to the ultimate test.

The Power Of The Jedi line was innovatively brought together the entire Star Wars saga under one banner for the very first time. Characters based on the Original Trilogy, the Expanded Universe and The Phantom Menace (as well as some Sneak Preview Attack Of The Clones figures) shared equal space and time on store shelves, making it very easy for collectors of all types to find the figures they wanted most for their own collections. With many of the figures released in the Power Of The Jedi line, they initially were planned for The Power Of The Force “2” line, but those plans were shelved in favor of regrouping them under one roof which made the most sense. In retrospect, the Episode I line ended abruptly. Interest in the film and the corresponding toys waned and distribution came to a grinding halt. The last few waves of figures became impossible to lock down and many characters fans desired to see enter the basic figure line never had the chance to get made. Thankfully, the Power Of The Jedi line got things back on track and we received some of the nicest action figures based on Episode I in this lineup as a result. Three standout figures in the Power Of The Jedi lines were various iterations and disguises of Queen Amidala, but perhaps more accurately in most instances, her decoy. Always able to make decent interpretations of this character in the basic figure line, Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion) is an action figure that will surely age gracefully.

Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion) is actually the one and only Padmé Amidala action figure in the Power Of The Jedi line. The other two Queen Amidala figures were her decoy Sabe. The whole queen versus decoy thing became a little muddled in the basic figure line, but if you look carefully in the film, you’ll easily see when it’s actually Padmé Amidala or when it’s actually Sabé. Based on a very moving and beautiful scene of the queen coming to terms with the attack of the Separatist Droid Army on Naboo, Hasbro has faithfully recreated the outfit to make an action figure that will evidently stand the test of time. This gown, complete with light-up “peacock” ornaments along the perimeter of the base of her gown along with an ornate headdress, gives this particular look of Queen Amidala an extremely hyper royal appearance. This is of course intended to give this impression. As an action figure, the translation into plastic is fantastic. Although significantly limited in articulation, the sculpt and deco here are the victors and rise above any disappointments in lack of articulation or accessories here. Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion) is gorgeous and well decorated. You can easily see why this action figure will hold up well over the years and provide collectors with a toy that function more like a evergreen than a perennial. Although Padmé Amidala only appears in this outfit for a very short while in the film, we’re happy that Hasbro made it one of their first offerings in the Power Of The Jedi lineup.

Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion) comes with only four points of articulation. A swivel head, two swivel shoulders and a swivel body (which only articulates when you twist the legs under her gown) are all that make up this action figure’s movement. However, this figure really only needs to stand on your shelf or in your diorama and does exactly what it needs to do right out of the package. The likeness is good and totally reminiscent of Padmé Amidala’s facial features. The face makeup which is comprised of a white based with red detailed accents (like the dots and the chin line) are expertly added and cleanly applied. In our opinion, we feel the headdress could have been put on more carefully in general. We think we found a good sample as pictured in our photo gallery, but we recall finding plenty of crookedly affixed crowns/headdresses in the wild. Her gown is bright red with plenty of black, silver and orange accents. Even the hoop-styled drape of her gown is perfectly recreated. If Hasbro were to ever redo this figure at a later date with enhanced articulation, it would be our prayer that they would use this sculpt and just update it. It’s done so well that we hope they would preserve the artistry of this action figure forever. Hasbro even managed to capture the somber expression on her face, exactly what was seen in the film on which this figure is based. As you can tell, we have thoroughly enjoyed Queen Amidala (Theed Invasion). Hasbro needs to keep making figures with quality going forward.
