Ugh. Is there anything more boring than an all-white Clone Trooper figure? We know this isn’t the greatest way to start a review. And after Hasbro proved they just couldn’t cut the mustard with 12” scaled armored figures, we should be ecstatic that a high-end company is producing quality collectibles in this format for the Star Wars collecting community. The issue is that Medicom Toy didn’t do anything to give the Clone Trooper any character. The shiny white armor is pretty we suppose, but these clones fight through the thick and thin of battle and typically have some wounds to show for their time of the frontlines. Perhaps we should redirect the tone of this review. The Real Action Heroes Clone Trooper figure has been done very well in one-sixth scale and as you know it is loaded with articulation. It isn’t perfect, but it’s the best Clone Trooper figure on the market that has this much articulation and separate armor parts that work as a whole system when articulated the figure. Sure, there are some points of articulation that inhibit the movement of the figure, most notably in the legs. But for the most part, the Clone Trooper can be posed in some pretty dynamic ways and for that we have to applaud the makers. Close-fitting and streamlined armor is a far cry from what Hasbro gave us in their own 12” Figures line.

The plain white Clone Troopers are a bit difficult to locate in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith, but they are there. It was universally accepted before fans delved into the film frame by frame, that these clones were just prototypes/concepts for the film and never really appeared in it. But they do and are present in multiple scenes. You can dins them working on Jedi starfighters around the time Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi return from rescuing Chancellor Palpatine. Then they can be seen on the Republic gunship standing behind Obi-Wan Kenobi and Mace Windu in another scene also. The only issue we have is that The Real Action Heroes Clone Trooper based on the all-white clones from Revenge Of The Sith are much too clean. Even the Clone Troopers working inside on the Jedi starfighters have dirty armor. Unless these clones have come straight off the conveyor belt on Kamino, they shouldn’t have such clean armor. We mentioned this earlier, but you should be able to see that it is a bone of contention with us and we would have liked to see some texture or evidence of battling applied to these figures. The Clone Trooper comes interestingly packaged in gray box. This is atypical for Real Action Heroes. We’re not sure why this was sold this way, but there you go.

Through an exclusive distribution agreement with Sideshow Collectibles, Medicom Toy is proud to give American collector easier access for these high-end collectible figures. What still may prevent these figures from being a success is the high MSRP. It’s hard to believe that a one-sixth scale figure can cost upwards of $150 and even more depending upon the complexities of it. No matter how you weigh the pros and cons, this price point will be out of reach for most of the Star Wars collecting body. Plus, this particular release feels unfinished at best. Without an ample supply of accessories and lack of color or superficial detail (like a good paint job), it just seems that collectors are being taken for a ride to expend this much money on an item that just doesn’t blow your mind. We don’t mean to criticize Medicom Toy or even Sideshow Collectibles for that matter. But perhaps better choices in character and the inclusion of more accessories will together make for more interesting releases. Speaking of the accessories, the Clone Trooper comes with an interchangeable set of hands as well as a DC-15 blaster. He also comes with a clear plastic display stand that we feel just is a wasted inclusion here. Not Medicom’s best effort, but an admirable attempt nonetheless.
