Plo Koon (Jedi Master) - POTJ - Basic

One of the twelve members of the Jedi Council, Plo Koon is a courageous warrior who comes from a long line of Jedi. His hand-to-hand combat abilities are legendary. He also uses his Force powers in combination with his extensive scientific knowledge to produce startling effects against his opponents.

No matter your opinion of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, there are very few fans who can deny that we were introduced to some very intriguing characters, especially in the Jedi High Council. While many humans made up the distinguished cast of 12 members, there were plenty that were of aliens descent and they had the most exotic and interesting looks Star Wars fans had seen in years. One Jedi Master, Plo Koon made up the Kel Dor Jedi Council member in the film and he immediately became a favorite for fans of the film, even despite knowing very little about him. Hasbro made a few of the Jedi High Council members in the Episode I line, but it wasn’t until the Power Of The Jedi line where they began banging out some of the neatest Jedi Masters (in our opinion) from The Phantom Menace. Plo Koon (Jedi Master) not only gives Star Wars collectors their very first interpretation of the Plo Koon character in action figure format, it also is a near definitive representation of the Jedi Master that will undoubtedly stand the test of time.

We use definitive to describe the sculpt, because Plo Koon (Jedi Master) certainly lacks in the articulation department. Plo Koon (Jedi Master) looks absolutely incredible. The head sculpt is divine, his costume is flawless and the paint job is the crowning joy. Plo Koon (Jedi Master) is years ahead of his time and will no doubt outlast other figures from the Power Of The Jedi line for years to come. He has a very complex deco on his head but Hasbro has replicated it beautifully. He has been decorated with precision and care and the many details on his face mask as well as the ones seen on his skin couldn’t have been done better. He of course is wearing a simple cloak which makes up most of his out. The shell is removable, although we felt as if it was going to tear when attempting to remove it so we didn’t. But underneath the robes he is articulated in the waist and hips which aid in helping him to achieve a good center of gravity. As you can clearly see, we are thoroughly impressed with how well he turned out.

Interestingly, Plo Koon (Jedi Master) comes with a bright yellow lightsaber. As we didn’t see any of the Jedi High Council members wield any lightsabers at all, it’s unknown what color his blade actually is. (Editor’s Note: Attack Of The Clones showed us that Plo Koon had a blue-bladed lightsaber.) The inclusion of this lightsaber, while not screen accurate, certainly adds some play value to a rather static action figure. Because of his molded robes, you can really only attain movement in his arms. As you can imagine, this may not sit well with a kid, or even a collector, so extra “stuff” packed with the action figure is always a good thing. But no matter what this action figure can or cannot do, you probably will be fixated on how awesome he looks. Plo Koon (Jedi Master) stand out from most of the figures in the Power Of The Jedi line, and certainly most of the figures in the Episode I line. We’re truly impressed with this miniature masterpiece because that’s exactly what it is. Even without hearing him speak or seeing him in action, Hasbro has showed us that this is a character to watch.
