Orrimaarko (Prune Face) - POTF2 [FF/TKC] - Basic

Leader of a resistance cell on his homeworld of Dressel, Rebel Alliance member Orrimaarko proved to be a fierce warrior against the evil Empire.

Star Wars collectors in 1997 and 1998 were treated to a sizeable remake of the original vintage Kenner lineup via the modern line known as The Power Of The Force “2” line. As the 1997 part of the line focused on getting out those classic action figures with a modern take, 1998 dug a little bit deeper into the films and brought us a whole caveat of characters that were first time offerings. To be clear, 1997 also brought us first-time offerings as well, but it was 1998 that took it to a whole other level. For the first time, the character originally known as 1984's ROTJ Prune Face figure in the vintage Kenner lineup (and a terrible peg-warmer mind you) received an Expanded Universe name and updated and released in the Freeze Frame Action Slide phase of The Power Of The Force “2” basic figure line. Orrimaarko (Prune Face) gets the modern treatment, and we’re thrilled that he is part of the modern line so soon. Kenner/Hasbro has done a fantastic job this far, preventing collectors from feeling languor with the line. And they need to keep things momentous like this to keep that interest alive. We feel that Orrimaarko (Prune Face) does a great job adding those obscure characters into the modern line, even if they barely appeared onscreen.

Orrimaarko (Prune Face) comes with six points of articulation, and this is the standard of the modern line right now. The figure does look fantastic. This time a molded cloak has been tooled, and it’s easily removable if you so choose. A soft-goods cloak like the vintage Kenner figure would have been sublime, but Hasbro wanted a more streamlined and less bulky approach, we assume. The sculpt is impressive. The details of this Dressellian have never looked better, and of course, the final wash to the skin makes this figure larger than life. (It’s impressive.) Orrimaarko (Prune Face) still has his eye patch, his leathery skin, and his wide yellow eyes. These signature characteristics make this character a standout despite his relative scarcity in the film. Aside from a bird’s eye view of the Home One and at the Ewok celebration bonfire at the end of the film, Orrimaarko (Prune Face) is essentially non-existent in the film. There are quite a few other Dressellians in Episode VI that make multiple and up close appearances where on the other hand Orrimaarko (Prune Face) is barely seen. He is so rare in the film that you might almost believe he was from a deleted scene instead.

Orrimaarko (Prune Face) comes with a strapped blaster rifle, just as 1984's ROTJ Prune Face did as well. As you can imagine, the paint operations on the figure and its accessories are so much better than they were in 1984, so the 1998 POTF2 [FF/TKC] Orrimaarko (Prune Face) figure is leaps and bound better looking than the classic figure. Because of the figure’s limited articulation, you really can’t make great use out of the blaster rifle. But, Kenner/Hasbro did tool his left hand in a way that allows him to hold the barrel of the gun at a 90-degree angle from the arm. Admittedly, the figure looks pretty neat while holding the weapon in this manner. The one last point we’d like to bring up about Orrimaarko (Prune Face) is that he doesn’t have a good center of gravity at all. He constantly wants to fall forward, and if you look carefully in our photo gallery, you will likely see the balancing act we needed to perform to get this figure to stand unassisted. We have to ask again. Just how hard is it to sculpt figures so that they don’t fall when you try to pose them? We find it ridiculous. Lastly, Orrimaarko (Prune Face) comes with a Freeze Frame Action Slide. But guess what? Orrimaarko (Prune Face) is nowhere within the image.
