The latest generation of cold weather assault stormtroopers, snowtroopers wear advanced insulated armor and helmets that reduce the glare of icy terrain.

Because The Force Awakens launch didn’t go as smoothly as anticipated, it’s hard to really know what products were intended to be out at launch. With so many other products arriving days and even weeks later, it seemed that there was no semblance of order and the product that did arrive was disorganized and to simply put it, perplexing. Some great items were released on Day 1 however. And of particular note we have to say that the First Order Snowspeeder Class II vehicle was one of the standouts from Force Friday, fan of it or not. In that Class II vehicle set was a First Order Snowtrooper Officer to pilot it and for a simply articulated action figure, it was extremely well tooled and decorated. With an orange shoulder pauldron, we immediately knew this was an officer and that we should be expecting to see a “regular” First Order Snowtrooper somewhere soon within the line. They finally arrived in wave 2 of the Desert/Snow assortment. (For the record, we don’t think we will ever be able to organize these new case assortments at all. Everything is so confusing.)

The First Order Snowtrooper action figure is very well done. Based on the First Order Snowtrooper Officer pack-in figure, Hasbro reused the head and arms from his figure and then gave the Build A Weapon First Order Snowtrooper an all-new body and all-new legs. We’re just as surprised as you that Hasbro expended dollars for this all-new tooling when it could have been reused from the original sculpt, but apparently these action figures are so cheap that they can afford to double dip like this. For this release, the First Order Snowtrooper Build A Weapon version, the figure comes with legs that are noticeably closer together and a few deco changes. The biggest difference in our eyes is the insignia on the chest. Although identical to the First Order Snowtrooper Officer, it has been applied in a completely different manner. Regardless, the First Order Snowtrooper is a gorgeous action figure. The final figure has a pearly white shiny finish to it and which really allows the finishing black details to pop out at you. Honestly, the final figure is purely awesome.

The First Order Snowtrooper comes with a removable survival backpack in addition to a First Order blaster rifle. Both hands will accommodate the weapon easily. As as a figure with only five points of articulation, Hasbro certainly added a healthy amount of detail into this action figure. Sure, the kama is part of the legs and you get no range of motion out of the arms, but as a background character in your dioramas and even if you choose to display him in the front, no one can deny just how wonderfully this action figure turned out. The only thing we wish is that he came packed in stronger numbers in the case assortment. He is an army builder and most collectors buying this line will be buying multiples of him. The First Order Snowtrooper comes with two Build A Weapon parts. Please don’t ask us to explain the logic of this pack-in premium because we don’t comprehend it at all. It seems completely unnecessary and unneeded. But we don’t say that to take away any attention from the First Order Snowtrooper. This is one simple action figure you’ll definitely want to get. He is awesome.
