Kylo Ren, a dark warrior strong with the Force, gains his name from the Knights of Ren; he also commands First Order missions. His unique self-made crossguard lightsaber has been capturing attention since its first reveal.

The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. This collectible figure features Kylo Ren's helmet with weathering effects, a meticulously crafted outfit with layers, the character's signature crossguard lightsaber with LED light-up function and weathering effects, and a specially designed hexagonal figure stand with the First Order's emblem!

With the lack of 3.75” super-articulated action figures in the Hasbro line anymore, many collectors are jumping ship and focusing on scales that they never thought they would ever purchase during their lifetimes. The Black Series [Phase III] in a bittersweet manner satiates the need for super-articulated action figures for some collectors, but many other are unwilling to change scales this late into the game. But those looking for something in the higher-end arena of collecting are falling in love head over heels for Hot Toys line of Star Wars figures. With unprecedented attention to detail and expertise in manufacturing screen accuracy, the Movie Masterpiece line of Hot Toys figures is making jaws drop across the globe, and this by no means is remotely an exaggeration. Collectors are nuts for these gorgeous one-sixth scale figures and this line is picking up momentum big time. Again, those who never dreamed of collecting Star Wars figures in this large scale are jumping into it at an alarmingly brisk pace. Sometimes when the quality is so high it just makes collectors consider things they normally wouldn’t.

The Kylo Ren Movie Masterpiece figure is stunning. However, its functionality isn’t too compatible with the collector. We’ll explain. Hot Toys added a functional zipper to Kylo Ren’s sleeve. But the zipper is so tiny that it’s almost impossible to utilize it. And in our experience, once we re-zipped the sleeve, it split open wreaking havoc on our nerves to fit for the photo shoot. Obviously, something this small in scale isn’t meant to be perfect – we don’t know how Hot Toys COULD make it perfect – but maybe the functionality should be more practical or revised to prevent these frustrating experiences. Also, taking the figure’s clothing off and on is trying in and of itself. Perhaps a light-up lightsaber wasn’t ideal for this figure. It seems that they’ve could have done a few things differently too maximize the collector’s experience. Thankfully, Kylo Ren looks so good that you probably won’t care about the trouble he’ll give you. This is action figure art at its prime, and we’re thrilled that Hot Toys is committed to excellence when it comes to their figures, especially the Star Wars line.

Kylo Ren comes with a decent amount on accessories, with most of them being interchange hands. It’s plenty as far as we’re concerned. We’d really like to emphasize how beautiful the outfit is. Kylo Ren has been given an exquisite soft-goods that feels as much like rubber as it does like cloth. It has a beautiful drape and complements the figure perfectly. The cloth hood can be pulled back or worn over the helmet, and both looks are amazingly screen accurate. The sleeves of his outfit are ribbed, and the belt could be more authentic. There have already been a great deal of toys and collectibles based off of Kylo Ren so far since Force Friday, but this one takes the cake by far. One thing preventing many people from hopping on board the Hot Toys train is the price. These figures are well over $200 a piece and we understand why purchases for a large part of the collecting community are so few and far between. But for us, we can’t think of a better way to spend your extraneous funds. Kylo Ren is penultimate. We’re thrilled about purchasing him.
