STAR TOURS Search For The Rebel Spy. Although a Hasbro-based item, Disney is showing a cutback in the amount of products they’re including in their theme park exclusive multipacks. STAR TOURS Search For The Rebel Spy brings together three unrelated characters from the STAR TOURS attraction and they’ve been packaged together in an exclusive three-pack for Disney Parks. We get a repainted figure, a repacked figured and an all-new figure. When you weigh this against what Hasbro is giving to collectors in the main toy line, this feels like a fair shake all things considered. Although the set has no real rhyme or reason, STAR TOURS Search For The Rebel Spy gives collectors a little bit of everything from the STAR TOURS attraction. Included are a Signal Droid, a Seeker Droid and an Imperial Sky Trooper. The set isn’t really an earth-shattering release, but there's enough newness in here to make it worthwhile for your collection. But are you brave enough to pay almost $35 for three figures that aren’t 100% brand new? That’s a lot of cash for the rehashes.
The Signal Droid in this set is different. Originally released in 2011’s ST STAR TOURS Travel Agency set in a reddish-brown color, now the Signal Droid comes blue with the same exact accessory: a clear display stand. The blue is definitely a little more striking this time around. For us it counts as a new figure so we’re very happy to pick it up in this boxed set. The next figure is all-new. Although seemingly based on some of the digital files of the Seeker Droid from 2012’s SW [DV/ROTS] Darth Vader And Seeker Droid Mission Series (MS01) two-pack, the STAR TOURS version of the Seeker Droid comes with completely altered and new parts. This droid shares nothing in common with the Hasbro release, which of course makes this release an all-new figure. The Seeker Droid looks pretty cool. It's mildly reminiscent of the Research Droids from Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, but has its own aura of threat. It's holding some signage for the STAR TOURS attraction. The paint operations look fantastic on this figure. We’re quite please with how it turned out.
The third figure is just a straight repack, with a slightly revised name. Originally released as the Sky Trooper from 2011’s ST Ambush At STAR TOURS multipack, it now has been retitled as the Imperial Sky Trooper and comes with both weapons that the previous Sky Troopers shared in one box, as they each came with a single gun each. This has always been a fun figure and it’s pretty cool to see again. But since we received two of these characters in the last STAR TOURS exclusive, couldn’t Hasbro have thought of a better character to add to this set instead? There are so many astromech droids from STAR TOURS that have yet to be made, It would be wonderful to see some of those added to these STAR TOURS multipacks. For fun, Hasbro included a suitcase/luggage accessory here. We’re not entirely sure what figure in this set should take ownership of it, but you can be creative and have some fun with it yourself. The STAR TOURS Search For The Rebel Spy may seem a bit of a confusing exclusive. It definitely is, but it doesn’t take away from its fun.
