The Star Tours Agency provides daily departures to destinations throughout the galaxy. Climb onboard the Starspeeder 1000 and let the journey begin!

2013 was a banner year for fans of the STAR TOURS attraction who were also fond of the toys Hasbro made especially for this Disney Parks attraction. As the Hasbro line started going down the drain, other areas where their toys were present seemed to be of a higher caliber and quality. Now, when you break it all down, the STAR TOURS Sector 2 Security isn’t earth shattering or even an excellent multipack. But it’s visually appealing in its packaging, and the three figures included with it interact beautifully. Still, with ever-increasing production costs, it is indeed a bit hard to swallow that a three-pack of two repainted, yet still previously released figures in addition to one new one is going to set you back just pennies under $35. Oh my, what a pain inflation can be to collectors! Still, even the repainted figures in this set can still be considered in some ways new from previous versions, so that might be the biggest selling point here. As STAR TOURS expanded its attraction while reinventing itself, new characters were brought forth not only into the ride itself, but also in the corridors while guests waited in line. Hasbro saw this as ample opportunity to reuse previously tooled sculpts to bring forth the new characters. It sometimes can be easy to make “old” new again. And that’s exactly what they did in the STAR TOURS Sector 2 Security multipack.

The STAR TOURS Sector 2 Security set comes with the all-new G2 Droid. It doesn’t have any formal designation, but this droid can be seen in the revised version of STAR TOURS. Although Hasbro released a similar style droid years ago in the STAR TOURS lineup, they decided to take an all-new route here. As you probably have heard in the past, the G2 repair droids seen in the attraction are actually the skeletons of the audio-animatronic geese from the Disneyland show entitled America Sings. This was a cost-effective way for Disney Parks to bring new droids into the mix. Hasbro designed the action figure very faithfully to STAR TOURS prop. You can even see the webbed feet from the geese as the feet of the droid. But with the rest of the “coating” removed, it is almost impossible to tell that the G2 Droid was actually a goose at one point. It is amazing however to see the work that goes into these “puppets” that Disney Parks uses. The action figure is great. Hasbro designed it and painted it perfectly. Its photoreceptors are oddly removable for some reason or another. And the figure comes with an impressive eight points of swivel articulation which is above what most of the STAR TOURS droids come with these days. As the only all-new figure in this set, it will probably be the focus of why collectors will be picking the STAR TOURS Sector 2 Security set up.

C-3PO isn’t anything new for collectors. Based on 2006’s TSC C-3PO (With Ewok Throne) (SAGA 042) figure, the biggest difference for this release is the paint job. Still coming vac-metallized, C-3PO now has a much bolder and borderline chartreuse (not really, just a super deep and bright yellowish) color scheme. It is notably different than The Saga Collection version. Interestingly, the paint job seems to mimic the color of the C-3PO prop seen in the STAR TOURS attraction. For one reason or another, and this could just be the effect of photos, C-3PO does appear to have a much bolder and brighter finish that come close to bordering on that neon-esque greenish-yellow color our eyes see in the action figure. You can tell the sculpt is becoming weary however as C-3PO’s joints are a bit loose. But he does look good in this set. But perhaps our favorite figure in this set is the RX Droid. Just a simple rework of 2002’s POTJ RX-24 “Captain REX” STAR TOURS figure, this generic RX Droid comes with a completely different color palette including cream, orange and silver and the action figure looks divine in our opinion. With nine points of not-so-great articulation, the RX Droid moves enough for us to be considered another fine release in this set. The STAR TOURS Sector 2 Security multipack is an overall nice collection of figures. The price is too high for three figures, but this is the latest trend in Star Wars collecting sadly.
