The newest installment to the Star Wars galaxy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will bring fans on an epic journey to a galaxy far, far away where a group of unlikely heroes bands together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction during a time of conflict.
Following the unveiling of the Death Trooper, Sideshow and Hot Toys are very excited to officially present the new Stormtrooper Jedha Patrol Sixth Scale Collectible Figure as an exclusive item only available in selected markets.
The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of the specialized Stormtrooper patrolling the streets of planet Jedha in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and features a completely new Stormtrooper helmet and armor, a newly developed fabric under-suit, a newly designed survival backpack, white colored pauldron, detailed weapons and accessories, and a specially designed figure stand!
Don't miss the chance to add the newest Stormtrooper collectible figure to your Rogue One: A Star Wars Story collection!
With so many other licensees currently providing inconsistent products and quality, it’s nice to know that a company like Hot Toys pretty much nails it each and every time they release a new figure. Granted, the order in which their high-end and highly sought after figures get released can often be confusing, but the momentum of their new products and when they get released has not slowed in the least. And perhaps more importantly, the end seems nowhere in sight. This of course is bittersweet. The Hot Toys’ Movie Masterpiece Series (and similar related lines) are EXPENSIVE. With each new release collectors have to plop down over $200 for every new figure. That is A LOT of money and as a result so many one-sixth scale collectors had to drop the hobby altogether. Add to these high costs frequent releases (one on top of each other) and you have a hobby which becomes unreachable and very frustrating to those that love them. Too many collectors are getting alienated from their passion. It’s actually unfortunate.
And then let’s not forget all of the exclusives. No Star Wars license is exempt from releasing different versions of the same figure. It’s a way they can help amortize costs for the expensive tooling. By “different versions” we mean something as simple as a new pauldron. Yes, it can be a bit too much to handle. Many collectors want to know why all of the interchangeable parts can’t be included with the basic release. After all, we want to “amortize” our own costs too. It’s doesn’t seem to fair to buy the same figure over and over again just to get all of the different officers. And that’s pretty much how it’s going to be done from here on out. Take for instance the Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol). We’re getting this character with a black and orange pauldron in the main line of the Movie Masterpiece Series, but Hot Toys decided to make an exclusive version (exclusively available through Sideshow Collectibles), with the white pauldron. The figure looks great as expected. Perhaps it’s more of the same, but we feel that even those not on a tight budget may find this release a little redundant.
You know the regular Hot Toys’ Stormtrooper release . Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol) does come with revised armor, as well as differently colored armor (to include dirt and sand). For all intents and purposes, the Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol) figure is a Sandtrooper, but the character has different gear for the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story film. The figure description explains that the Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol) figure comes with an all-new backpack. This much is true. But the figure also comes with new gear, like the included torch. While we don’t know much about Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we do already know that the characters have a hugely strong link to the Original Trilogy. Those who weren’t crazy about Episode VII are brimming with hope for Rogue One. If the Stormtrooper (Jedha Patrol) figure is any indication of the awesomeness we’ll see, we believe we’re in for a real treat. If only Hot Toys could figure out how to make more affordable collectibles. Hopefully this hobby will become affordable again.
