Obi-Wan Kenobi pilots an experimental Jedi starfighter while tracking General Grievous. The Jedi Master flies to a rendezvous with a contact that has information on Grievous’ last known location. The fighter is armed with laser cannons in case of trouble – something Kenobi always seems to encounter!

Even if you’re not too crazy about the animated/realistic hybrid basic figures, there are few who can discount the wonderful things Hasbro is doing with the midsize vehicle assortment. Sure, the line is becoming inundated with Jedi Starfighters, but at least they’re really being clever when it comes to how these vehicles are being approached in the toy line. They seemingly offer something to collectors of ages: both kids and adults. In the 2008 The Clone Wars [Blue] line, Hasbro buckled down and developed an all-new sculpt of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Delta Starfighter. The vehicle was a breath of fresh air. Hasbro new this and quickly repainted it for the 2009 The Clone Wars [Red] line and developed Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter from it. Collectors were thrilled. The sculpt of this vehicle has proven so incredibly popular that Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter has now been released for the third time in The Clone Wars line, this time under the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” banner. You’ll find very minor variations in the paint job when you compare it to the original 2008 release, but for all intents and purposes Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter is meant to be a straight repack, albeit once again with a slightly revised name. Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Delta Starfighter made its debut appearance in The Clone Wars film. And with R4-P17 at its helm, she fired electronic bolts at the Jawas who had already attempted to scavenge parts from it. The vehicle has also made various other appearances in a few television episodes as well. Expect it to be a mainstay in both the TV show as well as the toy line.

Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter, or Obi-Wan Kenobi's Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor to be more precise, continues to be a wonderful vehicle in The Clone Wars line. We’re always thoroughly impressed when Hasbro manages to squeeze so much into a little space, but there is something magical when they’re able to work in two vehicles that also function as one when assembled as such. But that’s exactly what Hasbro has done here and it’s a fine accomplishment to revisit time and again every time they re-release this vehicle in each successive The Clone Wars line look. Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter offers a plethora of play value without sacrificing authenticity. A functioning cockpit, a functioning droid socket, firing missiles and articulated vehicle parts are just some of the fantastic things that Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter brings to the collecting table. Astromechs from both The Clone Wars line and the realistically styled line fit like a glove in the droid socket and so far we haven’t had any trouble finding an Obi-Wan Kenobi figure to pilot the ship at all. These are all wonderful points. This vehicle is functional in every form and interpretation of the word. It will stand out as one of the finest vehicles Hasbro has made for 3.75” scaled action figures. Hasbro must have given the sculptors some leeway and not worry about budget constraints because what they’ve done here is just simply amazing. Many Jedi use similar vehicles like this in The Clone Wars television show and we hope Hasbro has enough energy to bang them all out for us. We know we can’t get enough of them.

Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter isn’t a simple “pull it out of the box and play with it” toy. It has multi-faceted playability. As mentioned, the vehicle is actually “two” vehicles in one. The center fuselage slides out from the main hull/body of the vehicle which in turn leaves with you with two “complete” vehicles, albeit smaller ones. But when the two pieces are separated, the smaller vehicles are comparable in size and each have their own respective cockpits and such. The center fuselage has two wings that are spring loaded and flip out when separated from the main hull. And if you pull down the center missile, it serves as “landing gear” to help balance the vehicle. There are also two “sculpted” landing gear legs already present on the propulsion rockets. The other half looks like some distant relative of an Imperial TIE fighter. “Most” of the ship is on this half of the vehicle, including the main cockpit and it also looks like a cool miniature vehicle in this transformed mode. The paint job given to this vehicle is very nicely done and in an age where Hasbro seems to take unfortunate shortcuts, it’s nice to know it was not sacrificed on this release. It’s very important for vehicles to have versatility and the aforementioned functionality.... which it does. But it’s even more important for a starfighter to be designed in a way where collectors are getting incredible value for their buck. Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter vehicle offers incredible value for everyone: both financially and in play value credits. What more could you request from Hasbro?
