"Luke Skywalker? I thought he was a myth." – Rey
In the aftermath of the fall of the Empire, Luke Skywalker, the last surviving Jedi, has put himself in exile after his attempt to train a new generation of Jedi went horribly awry. As a new threat to the galaxy known as the First Order emerges, Leia, Han, Chewie, and a group of Resistance heroes risk their lives trying to locate Luke's whereabouts - with the hope of bringing him back into the fold in their desperate struggle to restore peace and justice to the galaxy.
Sideshow and Hot Toys are very excited to officially present the highly anticipated sixth scale Luke Skywalker Collectible Figure from Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
The highly-accurate collectible figure is specially crafted based on the image of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in the film featuring a newly developed head sculpt, specially tailored costume, a mechanical right hand, and a Star Wars-themed figure stand.
Who wouldn't want this legendary Jedi in their Star Wars figure collection?
It is likely more than not that the most anticipated characters in collectible from The Force Awakens was Luke Skywalker. But nearly every last licensee made collectors wait more than a grueling year before becoming available. We’re sure the reasons for this are numerous. And we’re sure that Disney played a major role in Luke’s delay. But now that we’re around two years out from the film, the proverbial floodgates are opening up, and we’re getting some fantastic collectibles of Luke Skywalker in his Jedi Master gear as seen in the last few moments of the conclusion of The Force Awakens. Luke’s outfit at the end of The Force Awakens was not what all fans expected. The outfit was a little too bright and white, and although he wore a cloak, it didn’t scream “classic Jedi attire” like perhaps it should have. He isn’t wearing a poorly constructed outfit of course. It’s just different than where many people’s expectations for it were. No matter how you feel about the costume, Hot Toys has delivered a stunning one-sixth scale collectible version of the revered Jedi Master, and it’s a case in point example of how brilliant the artisans at Hot Toys are when they make classic Star Wars characters come to life.
Simply put, Luke Skywalker [TFA] is a beautiful collectible specimen. He looks a tad angry, but Hot Toys captured an expression indicative of his emotional state when he made his debut in the Sequel Trilogy. They provided no other interchangeable portraits, sadly, so this is the only expression we’re going to get (right now) for this character in this outfit. His emotions appear to exude seriousness, perhaps annoyance and overall discontent. This figure appears to set the stage for what will come in Episode VIII but also remains true to what we experienced in Episode VII. Of course, his role in Episode VII was a little more than a cameo, but at least we know where he’s at emotionally. The figure captures his facial mannerisms beautifully. And the fitted costume he’s wearing has been expertly tailored not to look baggy or ill-fitted. The multilayered Jedi robes are crisp and wrinkle-free, and the outer robe/cloak hugs his silhouette closely without creating any unnecessary or extra bagginess. All of the pieces interact wonderfully with each. Whether you liked Episode VII or not, you’re going to love this interpretation of him. We waited a “lifetime” to get him, and now he is here and unable to disappoint.
Luke Skywalker [TFA] comes modestly accessorized. He does come with two extra sets of interchangeable hands (in addition to the ones he is already given). This means you get two additional cybernetic right hands and two human left hands. Hot Toys was also gracious enough to include an environmental display stand which is based on the terrain of Ahch-To. It’s too small in our opinion. A larger covering would have been an ideal base here in this instance. This is a one-sixth scale figure, so we feel that we should get more surface area than what has been provided. Other than what has been mentioned, that’s all we get for Luke Skywalker [TFA]. The articulation system given to Luke Skywalker [TFA] is about standard. The figure can attain an array of incredible poses. Whether you want him to kneel, or appear to be walking, all is possible thanks to this figure’s articulation. Luke Skywalker [TFA] doesn’t bring anything spectacular to the Hot Toys line. Yes, his portrait is stunning, and the costume is realistic, but these are all things we have come to expect from Hot Toys figures. If they step up the accessories and other inclusions, they could make their figures a ballpark hit.
