Solo: A Star Wars Story may not have been a film that the Star Wars community wanted, but the film itself turned out to be better than anticipated. Some found the film a little too pandering and weak, but overall Star Wars fans felt a great deal of satisfaction from the film. The Star Wars [Solo] line from Hasbro hasn’t been as exciting by comparison, but every time new products are revealed, it seems as if the line is getting better and better with time. The issue is that most of us won’t find any of the successive waves because the line has already reached a standstill, thanks to poor case assortment choices and retail’s overall agnosticism to the Star Wars brand. It’s terrible at all types of retail. NO one wants to touch the Hasbro Star Wars brand anymore. It might as well be poison at this point. And anything released subsequently doesn’t get the attention it needs. In each of the Disney Star Wars lines, there have been instances where the latest products had to be saved by another online retailer or suffer cancellation altogether. The latest wave of Two-Packs turned out great as far as 5POA figures are concerned, and we hope that everyone who wants them has the chance.

The Chewbacca (Mimban)/Han Solo (Mimban) Two-Packs set is expected and doesn’t bring anything all that different to the table, but we are impressed with the final products. Unlike the wonky Chewbacca Force Link 2.0 figure, Hasbro has tooled a version of Chewbacca that faithfully recreates his onscreen presence from Solo: A Star Wars Story. He’s thin, lanky and tall and is the correct height for the first time in this line. He is covered in mud to recreate the unforgettable first meeting between himself and Han Solo. And he comes with some pretty awesome accessories that should please fans of 3.75” action figures. Firstly, Chewbacca (Mimban) comes with a removable chain that comes attached to his left leg. It locks in place courtesy of a plug but it’s difficult to see, and at fir,st, you might think the ankle bracelet isn’t removable. But it is. He also comes with a huge cannon (which breaks down in three separate pieces). Our sample didn’t stay together all that well, but your mileage may vary. Chewbacca (Mimban) feels too tall for the cannon, but if you’re patient, you can make it work. Paint operations aren’t perfect on Chewbacca (Mimban), but they’re far from terrible.

We really appreciate how well Han Solo (Mimban) turned out. He is wearing an outfit reminiscent of an AT-AT Commander’s. But he, just like Chewbacca (Mimban), is fully coated in mud and Hasbro did a fantastic job at recreating the filthy mess. Han Solo (Mimban) comes with extra articulation, two swivel wrists, which aids the figure with posing. Han Solo (Mimban) comes without a helmet which would have been a welcomed accessory here, but he does come with a blaster. The blaster fits well in his hands, and he looks great posed with it. Together, both Chewbacca (Mimban)and Han Solo (Mimban) look wonderful together. As their introduction to each other was one of the the highlights of Solo: A Star Wars Story, it’s great to see them paired together in a Two-Packs set. However, it’s a shame that this set wasn’t part of the inaugural wave of Two-Packs. We feel it should have been available at the line look launch. Hopefully, more great products like this get released in support of the Solo: A Star Wars Story film. But it’s Disney Star Wars’ first commercial flop. We wonder if Hasbro will have reason to continue the line at this point. It’s a bittersweet time to be a Star Wars fan.
