Through the creative vision of Lucasfilm Ltd. and the Cartoon Network, the Clone Wars are brought to life in a series of short animated chapters. A unique animation style captures the drama of this epic period in galactic history along with its outstanding heroes and adversaries. Noble Jedi warriors lead clone troopers into battle against the evil Separatist forces and their droid armies. Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda and their comrades struggle against the rising power of the dark side and confront personal challenges against a backdrop of war-torn planets.

What’s the deal with Walmart and Commemorative DVD Collection multipacks? And what’s the deal with the rhyming of the Sith Attack Pack? One thing is certain when it comes to the Clone Wars Commemorative DVD Collection three-packs. And that’s you pay a meager amount per figure as compared to the ones featured in the basic figure line. Sadly, the Sith Attack Pack is filled with characters already made available in the basic figure line which has run since 2003. Instead of taking the opportunity to introduce new clones of Jedi from the Tartakovsky micro-series, Hasbro feels it’s best to rehash the great figures we already received. It’s not a complete failure by any means, but simply a lost opportunity that could have been something entirely more special. The Sith Attack Pack includes three main villains from Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars. And they include Asajj Ventress, General Grievous, and Durge. General Grievous and Durge aren’t Sith, so the name of this set is a misnomer. Villains typically go over well with Star Wars fans, so we imagine that this three-pack will be a hit regardless of its redundancy. Let’s take a closer look at the contents that make up this retailer exclusive.

Hasbro ripped Asajj Ventress right out of the television micro-series. But imagine that in three-dimensional form. Asajj Ventress has unique features like pupil-less eyes and a bald head which set her apart from most other Star Wars/Clone Wars characters already familiar to us. Just like her small screen appearance, the Asajj Ventress action figure stands out in the action figure line equally well. Hasbro was gracious to pose her in a way that shows off her Force-wielding abilities from the show. And these are details we love to see translated into the toys we buy. Asajj Ventress comes with minimal articulation, but Hasbro has given her enough and has many of her parts pre-posed so that the combination creates some impressive looks. For example, her left arm is at a 90-degree angle from her body, and her arm is bent at a 90-degree angle as well. She does look a little odd holding these positions without the lightsabers in hand, however. With each arm in a different pose and with each hand able to accommodate a hilt, you can pose Asajj Ventress in some dynamic poses. The paint job is essentially flawless. The colors match the cartoon and the operations and perfectly applied cleanly and in the lines.

For General Grievous, Hasbro went with simple articulation, but that’s the nature of all of the Clone Wars [Animated] characters. Between the crouched position and the extra swivel articulation in the forearms, we’re happy to report that this is a very cool action figure. Although waist articulation is included, General Grievous doesn’t have any hip articulation (which would have made him nearly perfect in our opinion). But all is not lost because the movement you want to see in this figure is the upper body and there is plenty here to achieve the poses you desire. Included with General Grievous are two lightsabers: one blue and one green. Each hand is cupped to accept each lightsaber without issue. And paint operations are crisply and cleanly applied. Durge is about as simple as an action figure gets. Limited to a mere four points of articulation, Durge lacks articulation but certainly doesn’t lack substance. He stands excellently and despite his minimal articulation, Hasbro designed him very thoroughly so that he could hold the included lance accessory in a variety of ways. Included with every figure in this set is an action figure display stand. This wide display stand sports the Star Wars logo and then has “Clone Wars” below it in a smaller size.
