The Jedi High Council is the main interface between the Jedi and the government of the Republic. The twelve High Council members are chosen from the ranks of the Jedi Masters and represent a gathering of great minds who have proven themselves and their abilities in the service of peace and justice.
Imagine the planning that goes into making four separate sets of action figures interact with each other and the interact with two older sets produced a years earlier. But Hasbro successfully made this happen with the Jedi High Council Scene Packs sets. After Hasbro released the first two of these sets in the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] line, collectors couldn’t wait for the day when they would be able to complete the Jedi High Council scene without any missing pieces. That became a reality by the end of 2004 because during The Original Trilogy Collection Hasbro produced the final sour sets which would make this completion possible. What’s more, Hasbro tooled four flooring pieces and included them with the new sets so that the Jedi High Council would have the same base that we saw in the Prequel Trilogy. The final products of the Toys R Us exclusive sets weren’t perfect, but there was enough newness added to them to keep things interesting for collectors. Most figures were given articulated lower bodies and soft-goods skirts for them to be fully interactive with their chairs. But in our opinion, the Jedi High Council sets are a success, and in retrospect, we’re so thankful that Hasbro completed something of this magnitude in the 3.75” action figure line.
The Jedi High Council (Featuring Anakin Skywalker, Saesee Tiin & Adi Gallia) set comes with three interesting action figures. Anakin Skywalker is a repaint of 2000’s POTJ Anakin Skywalker (Mechanic) figure, but this time he comes without any accessories. He appears a little too dirty, but when he faced the Jedi High Council, he had come right from Tatooine. Perhaps the intent here was to make him look a little dirtier than usual. The figure is weak for certain, and Hasbro didn’t give it any additional articulation points. But Anakin Skywalker can stand rather easily and fleshes out the three-pack nicely. Based on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, the Jedi High Council (Featuring Anakin Skywalker, Saesee Tiin & Adi Gallia) three-pack helps to complete the first Jedi High Council we saw in Episode I. Saesee Tiin is a bit of a disappointment. Hasbro decided to use the very exaggerated action posed figure of 2002’s SW [S – P1] Saesee Tiin (Jedi Master) (’02 #20) figure. His body is cocked at an angle, and his arms are an absolute mess. But Hasbro did their best to make him relevant for this exclusive release. This time, Saesee Tiin has all-new soft-goods (but no additional leg articulation), so he can sit in the chair included. His paint operations are a bit sloppy, and his coloring is off a bit as well.
Adi Gallia might be the best updated figure in this three-pack. Hasbro took the 1999 EI Adi Gallia figure, gave her new legs and a soft-goods skirt, repeated her and called it a day. The figure is very similar to the Episode I release, save for the newly added parts. She comes with a Jedi High Council chair and sits in it very nicely. But like all of the other figures in these exclusives, Adi Gallia comes without any accessories like lightsabers. Even her molded outer robe is not present here. The Jedi High Council (Featuring Anakin Skywalker, Saesee Tiin & Adi Gallia) (Scene 3) set adds three more characters to the Jedi High Council scene for our collections. Maybe these aren’t all-new sculpts, and maybe all of these characters have been released in other ways in the past, but you have to hand it to Hasbro that they bothered to retool these figures so they could interact as much as they can with the environmental pieces in these sets. Overall, Scene 3 isn’t as good as some of the other sets in this format, but we do appreciate how Hasbro is assembling them and keeping them as interesting as possible for collectors. The Jedi High Council (Featuring Anakin Skywalker, Saesee Tiin & Adi Gallia) (Scene 3) set is set at a $19.99 MRSP This is completely affordable and fairly priced. You’ll need it to complete your display, so make sure you get this set.
