Jedi High Council (Featuring Shaak Ti, Agen Kolar & Stass Allie) (Scene 4) - OTC - Scene Packs (Exclusive)

The Jedi High Council is the main interface between the Jedi and the government of the Republic. The twelve High Council members are chosen from the ranks of the Jedi Masters and represent a gathering of great minds who have proven themselves and their abilities in the service of peace and justice.

Hasbro saved the best Jedi High Council set from The Original trilogy Collection line because of one reason: Shaak Ti. The only set of the four released that focused on Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones, Hasbro added a long-awaited update to a Jedi master that many Star Wars fans have come to adore. In the Star Wars “Saga” [Phase I] line we received an action-oriented version of Shaak Ti that focused on how she appeared during the Battle of Geonosis. Now we have a more reserved version of her thanks to her inclusion in the Toys R Us exclusive Jedi High Council three-packs. She turned out better than expected and is a focal point of Scene 4. Hasbro added a great amount of newness to Shaak Ti, and she truly is the reason to purchase this set above and beyond the reason to complete your Jedi High Council environment. About a year after the 2003 Scene Packs sets were released, two more sets arrived as Toys R Us exclusives under The Original Trilogy Collection line look (without the OTC logo) as Scene 1 and Scene 2. And then at the end of 2004, the final two sets also were released allowing us to complete the Jedi High Council. The Jedi High Council sets aren’t perfect. In fact, many of them have multiple issues. But their whole purpose was to create an opportunity to complete a dioramic scene, and something like this rarely happens with Hasbro. Collectors considered themselves fortunate when all of this came to pass. As you know by now, each of the 2004 sets came with a quarter of the flooring to connect everything beautifully. Hasbro went above and beyond here, and collectors are thankful.

Despite the inclusion of the standout Shaak Ti figure, the Jedi High Council (Featuring Shaak Ti, Agen Kolar & Stass Allie) (Scene 4) set is also quite lazy. Keeping in mind that this is the only set of the four based on Attack Of The Clones, Hasbro utilized two Episode I based sculpts to bring us two characters from Episode II. The first, Stass Allie, is a repainted version of the Adi Gallia figure from Scene 3. It’s literally the same figure with a darker paint job. Collectors would have appreciated a slightly different head sculpt as the two characters look completely different from one another. Now it feels like we received another Stass Allie, but with a darker complexion. Also, when you set up the entire Jedi High Council, it feels like we have a repeated character in the lineup. We find this to be very lazy of Hasbro and a complete disappointment from a collector’s standpoint. Even worse, the inclusion of Agen Kolar is perplexing at best. Hasbro took 2001’s POTJ Eeth Koth (Jedi Master) figure, slightly repainted him (barely) and labeled him as Agen Kolar. Interestingly, the retooled Eeth Koth in Scene 2 would have made a much better Agen Kolar than this figure. Again, this is a lazy move by Hasbro, and they should have done something a little more interested in giving collectors their very first Agen Kolar action figure. We believe repainting the Eeth Koth figure from Scene 2 would have worked incredibly better. Again, collectors have to focus on the fact that the whole purpose of the Jedi High Council sets is to complete the seating and the flooring of the Jedi Temple. Once you put this into perspective, everything else is secondary, including the pack-in figures.

Despite two setbacks (Agen Kolar and Stass Allie), there is a wonderful figure included here which makes the $19.99 MSRP worth it all. Shaak Ti has been given a nice treatment that should make collectors fairly happy. Keeping in mind that Shaak Ti is not definitive in any way, and very far from perfection, she still looks beautiful thanks to Hasbro’s smart use of soft-goods and the stunning paint job they gave her. Significantly retooled from 2002’s SW [S – P1] Shaak Ti (Jedi Master) (’02 #10) sculpt, the new Shaak Ti comes without her molded lower skirt, all-new legs and a slightly repositioned upper body to allow her to sit in the included chair as naturally as possible. Shaak Ti can stand unassisted perfectly and can achieve poses that are more action-oriented than the static sculpt we received in the 2002 Star Wars “Saga” line. The soft-goods Hasbro gave her are multilayered and of luxurious quality. They allow her to freely move as needed while not inhibiting her ability to utilize the included chair accessory. And we’d like to reemphasize that the paint operations on Shaak Ti are some of the most impressive we’ve ever seen Hasbro implement on a Star Wars figure. Collectors should count themselves very fortunate. The Jedi High Council (Featuring Shaak Ti, Agen Kolar & Stass Allie) (Scene 4) set has an MSRP of $19.99 which is the same price as the first four Scene Packs released in 2003. This is always good news. If you need to complete the Jedi High Council, this is the only way you can do it. And we believe you’ll think it’s more than worth it, repeat figures and all. Scene 4 is the only set based on Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. We’re sure that collectors will want Hasbro to finish the Episode II Jedi High Council next!
