Celebrate the legacy of Star Wars, the action-and-adventure-packed space saga from a galaxy far, far away, with this collection of premium, highly-detailed 3.75-inch scale figures and vehicles. (Each sold separately. Subject to availability.)

Solo: A Star Wars Story was great for many reasons, but one of the standout characters introduced was in one of the most exciting scenes in the entire film. The Range Trooper may possess some characteristics that are humorous. (His furry collar led many collectors to refer to him as a “pimp” trooper.) But the character has “snowtrooper” written all over it, and for that reason alone ranks high as one of the best characters in Solo as far as we’re concerned. Sadly, The Vintage Collection Range Trooper was the third produced version of this character in the Hasbro Star Wars line. We first received the Star Wars [Solo] Range Trooper Force Link 2.0 figure and The Black Series [Phase III] Range Trooper (64) figures at the same time. And then almost a half a year later Hasbro finally released the 3.75” super-articulated version for longtime collectors. The TVC Range Trooper (VC128) is a beautiful looking action figure. But it doesn’t have a fantastic range of movement. This is due to the inherent design of the character. As you know, the 6” Range Trooper doesn’t have a great range of movement either. So fans of The Vintage Collection shouldn’t expect anything different with a smaller-scaled figure. Let’s take a close look at this wonderful action figure.

The Range Trooper comes with 28 points of articulation. Most of the figure’s movement is in the upper body. His arms are very functional and can hold the included blaster with both hands. You get a wide array of movement with the figure’s upper body and this included waist movement, head movement and multiple points of arm movement. The Vintage Collection version of the Range Trooper in our opinion is the best iteration of the character as an action figure. For starters, the TVC version blows away the color scheme given to The Black Series [Phase III] 6" figure. Check out our comparison picture. You’ll find that Hasbro got the coloring more accurately with The Vintage Collection version. And it goes without saying that it is a world away from the satisfactory 5POA Force Link 2.0 version. Hasbro nailed the likeness of the figure perfectly, and the rest of the figure’s deco is a pure joy. They did a fantastic job of recreating the most important aspects of this character which include the helmet and the armor. The Range Trooper has the most interesting legs, and you’ll be impressed with how carefully Hasbro recreated the mechanics of it, even if they don’t provide the greatest movement for the figure.

Some of the finer deco is done very well. On our samples, we found the details are immaculate and neatly applied, and the lines are free from any sloppily applied deco. Overall, the figure’s articulation is better than we expected, but the inherent nature of the figure’s design prevents it from being the most “mobile” action figure Hasbro has ever produced. It’s quite the chore to pose this figure in action-oriented poses like running, one foot forward or general movement positions. Still, with a little patience, you can make most poses happen. For us, the most interesting detail with the Range Trooper is the new white gun. We’re happy to report that The Vintage Collection Range Trooper is the only version of the character at the moment that comes with the correctly styled and colored weapon. Both the 6" figure and the 5POA figure come with black blasters, but Hasbro corrected the error with the TVC version. We should count ourselves fortunate. Smartly, Hasbro added the Range Trooper at two per case. The figure is an important army builder, and you can expect that collector will be buying him up very quickly. The rest of the case assortment isn’t ideal, so this is the one figure collectors will be eyeing for their collections. We’re pleased with the Range Trooper. Hasbro did a great job here.
