Jaina Solo is the daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo. She is strong in the Force, as is her twin brother Jacen. An accomplished pilot with an aptitude for mechanics, she becomes an apprentice to Mara Jade Skywalker.
Jaina Solo, the daughter of Han Solo and Leia Organa was an integral member of the New Jedi Order that served to defeat the Yuuzahn Vong in the Yuuzahn Vong war. Perhaps her most shocking role in the Star Wars galaxy was to defeat and kill her brother Jacen Solo in a lightsaber duel, who became the evil Darth Caedus and had to be stopped to restore peace into the galaxy. Looking a bit more like her mother than her father, Jaina also adopted her mother's strong will and a higher level of Force sensitivity which enabled her to become the Jedi she needed to be to serve the Order best. She had affiliation with many familiar characters, including the infamous Boba Fett, so she quickly became a staple character in the Expanded Universe. Hasbro decided to knock out the very first action figure of her in the final wave of the Legacy Collection. The final product is good, not perfect, but she is an essential character if you're a fan of the stories that hang relatively close to the films. Since she is the offspring of Han and Leia, she likely is a character that will hold some importance to even the most casual of collectors.
The Jaina Solo action figure may be the weakest figure in the final wave of the Legacy Collection unfortunately. But while it's certainly not the most exciting, it isn't terrible. She is a kit-bashed figure that borrows parts from 2008's TLC Stass Allie (BD 23) including the arms and legs, but this time comes with all-new hands, head torso, skirt and lightsaber. She has also been give a new date stamp. The similarities to Stass Allie are a little too strong here, but thanks to good paint operations Jaina Solo is able to possess a unique identity of her own. She is super-articulated as you might expect, but her movement is not that great. Yes, she has all the areas fully articulated as they should be, but there is limited mobility in many of them total thanks to a rigid skirt which inhibits the rest of the figure's movement in many ways. Of particular note, you may be surprised to learn that her head is very mobile and can be turned in many directions despite her long hair (which tends to work adversely against good articulation). Her Jedi outfit looks pretty good for the most part and her unique pink lightsaber has a hilt we haven't yet seen before in the Star Wars line. This goes to show that Hasbro's wheels are always turning and authenticity are still a priority for them.
We think Hasbro did a fair job on Jaina's likeness. But we don't think the final result makes her look as pretty as she is in the multiple EU sources in which she appears. She has the borderline annoying "looking up" expression in her eyes. We never like this look on any of our action figures and as a figure that will probably never see rerelease or a revisit ever again so we wish Hasbro would have perfected it (the first and only time) with this figure. Don't misinterpret our intentions here. We think Jaina Solo is a solid action figure, but she just isn't free from some of the more detailed errors. The Expanded Universe wave started leaking at Toys R Us stores across the country in April of 2010, even though they had an unofficial released date of May 1, 2010. Many fans and collectors never even saw these hit the stores even on May 1st, but Hasbro has explained and assured us that there will be other ways to attain this special wave of figures before they are gone forever. It is a rich wave of figures and includes some of the largest in the line. Jaina Solo is a strong and viable figure in the assortment, but she may be one that will be easier to get down the road. No one knows for sure, but we do know that you should get her for your collection.
Status: Jaina Solo is a kit-bashed figure that utilizes the arms and legs of 2008's TLC Stass Allie (BD 23) figure with new hands, torso, skirt and portrait. Her lightsaber is all-new too.
