A reprogrammed Imperial Enforcer droid now loyal to the Alliance, K-2SO is an alarming sight standing within a secret Rebel base. The pragmatic droid is an effective insertion agent, as he can blend in perfectly at Imperial installations and outposts.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went over very well with fans of the Original Trilogy. It’s evident the reason why this happened. The film brings us to the doorstep of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, and lets us know what happened in the moments before Episode IV’s opening crawl. After the Death Star plans are handed off to Princess Leia Organa, it’s the point where Star Wars begins. Rogue One introduced us to a host of new characters besides the ones we know well and adore too. From heroes to villains, Rogue One added a healthy balance of the good and evil in the universe. And we saw how their engagements played out between them. One character that immediately grabbed fans of Rogue One was K-2SO. The cast wasn’t initially sure of his loyalties, but he proved to be an important ally for them, and the comedic relief he provided in the film was something viewers appreciated very much.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll repeat it. Droids are meant for Disney’s Elite Series line. Droids, on average, are metal “things” and recreating them in a collectible format that mostly uses metal materials to recreate them is a wise decision. K-2SO is another character that benefits from the diecast metal treatment. Not only did Disney work in a decent amount of articulation into this figure, but they also painted it beautifully. We’re thoroughly impressed with how much detail in the paint job Disney worked into this figure. Disney didn’t capture every last detail of the droid into this figure, but they did a more than admirable job on it. K-2SO looks spectacular. And fans of Rogue One, or the droid would be remiss not to add this collectible into their collections. Star Wars collectors are divided when it comes to finding value or collectability in fringe collections like the Elite Series line. But this line still resonates with a healthy portion of collectors.

This die-cast metal sculpt of K-2SO is beautiful, and it’s one of the best Disney has done yet in the Elite Series line. They managed to include the plugs for the screw holes which gives K-2SO a seamless texture on the reverse (dorsal) side of the figure. Between this added detail, and the clean, colorful and accented look of the figure, K-2SO is one of Disney’s finest Elite Series figures to date. K-2SO’s eye photoreceptor color may not be screen-accurate, and perhaps he could use a few more points of articulation, but if you let some of the smaller details go, you’ll appreciate what Disney has done for this character in the Elite Series line. Like all Elite Series figures, K-2SO comes with an oblong black Star Wars display base with a foot peg. K-2SO has one hole under his right foot where you can attach him to the base. It works, but we’d prefer some additional accessories for the character instead.
