If you think about it, we all waited a very long time to properly pilot the Scout Walker vehicle from THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK line. The AT-ST Driver didn’t get added to the Kenner line until we saw them during the Battle of Endor. Before that time none of us knew what they looked like, although we imagine the pilots on Hoth were wearing something altogether different. One of Kenner’s most accurately depicted action figures; the AT-ST Driver came with an excellent likeness and a streamlined look that remains unforgettable today. I remember seeing plenty of this character hanging from the shelves during the mid-1980s. Although two of them pilot the Imperial AT-ST walkers, Kenner’s designed only allowed for one pilot to fit inside of the cockpit. The AT-ST Driver may be one of Kenner’s most under-appreciated figures, and I think that’s a shame. As the line improved with each new figure release, it became apparent that more and more young Star Wars fans were moving onto other things. But the AT-ST Driver for me will always be a highlight in the Kenner line for me.
