THAT’S NOT PAPLOO! THAT’S ROMBA! How Kenner messed up the reference image for Paploo is something I may never understand. And I am not even 100% certain that they used a picture of Romba by mistake. But it sure looks like Romba. Paploo is my second most favorite Ewok (after Wicket W Warrick, of course). I find it astounding how Kenner managed to make the action figure have features that precisely imitate the onscreen character. You can tell what Ewok this is in RETURN OF THE JEDI by merely looking at the action figure. Between his red fur and cream-colored cowl with feathers, Paploo stood out from the rest of the Ewoks produced by Kenner. Paploo may have rivaled Wicket as the Ewok with the most screen time, but I especially loved his antics like stealing an Imperial speeder bike or leading the Rebel Alliance to the back door of the bunker. Hasbro gave us a nicely tooled version of Paploo which was part of a two-pack in the LEGACY COLLECTION. But it’s not definitive for me, and I hope they revisit him soon, complete with the corrected reference image (in addition to a chase/running change version with the original “Romba” image).
