"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."
The adventure continues with this exciting introduction of figures from the Star Wars trilogy! Each figure is authentically styled with incredible detail and is fully poseable.

After a botched rescue attempt to save Han Solo, Princess Leia finds herself a prisoner in Jabba's palace.

Ever since Kenner/Hasbro released the extremely popular 1997 POTF2 [R/G] Princess Leia Organa (As Jabba’s Prisoner) figure, they’ve been reluctant to call the character anything but “Princess Leia.” For The Power Of The Force “2” [FlashBack/CommTech] Action Collection line, they call her “Princess Leia” without further designation describing her outfit and note that she comes “with chain” on the call-out featured on the packaging. It was a brave move for Kenner/Hasbro to release an Action Collection 12 Inch Figure of Princess Leia featured in her skimpy outfit from Return Of The Jedi. And aside from a few issues, this Barbie doll-like take on the on-screen is beautiful in many ways. In other ways, not so much. Part of a wave that focuses on characters from Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi, Princess Leia is the boldest of the bunch. Some may feel she doesn’t fit in with the rest of the line because of her drastic new approach, but that’s up for debate.

We mentioned it briefly above, but this is the first modern Star Wars Action Collection 12 Inch Figure that has an approach not all that different from Mattel’s Barbie dolls. Instead of coming with a nice amount of articulation, Princess Leia comes with fewer points of articulation to keep the aesthetics of her arms and legs with the smoothest contour possible. The same is true for her torso area. She has a head that is much too large for her body, but this has been a problem for most Action Collection 12 Inch Figure lines. They create larger head sculpts because of the inherent shrinking of them at the factory level, but her head didn’t shrink enough, and it does look oddly out of proportion. Princess Leia comes with beautiful rooted auburn hair, and it’s braided like how a professional cosmetologist would style it. And the hairstyle is accented with the proper ornamentation we witnessed in the film. It is truly a beautiful thing.

The figure also comes with a left-arm bracelet and a right arm gauntlet. And they also tooled earrings to match. All are cast in bronze and accent her outfit beautifully. The bikini top and the bikini bottom are screen-accurate, although the shimmery maroon fabric used for her skirt feels a little too bright and reflective. It does, however, possess a velour-like texture, which also seemingly feels authentic to what we see in the film. The advertised accessory, the chain, is made from real metal and fits around her neck perfectly. It also comes with a ring handle for Jabba, but until we get Jabba The Hutt from this line, it’s a moot point. Because they designed this figure more like a Barbie doll than a standard Hasbro Action Collection 12 Inch Figure, Princess Leia has great difficulty standing. It tends to lean once you can stand her upright. You’ll most likely want to utilize a display stand for her to maximize her ability to stand without human assistance. Hasbro created the likeness of the character well, but perhaps the makeup is too dark. The biggest issue, however, is the size of the head. It's too big. Other than these issues, Princess Leia is a nice release.
