Please the mighty Hutt by feeding him his favorite snack – Jabba Glob! This dripping, frog-filled delicacy is found only on Jabba's home planet of Tatooine. Be sure not to eat any yourself – Glob is for Hutts, not humans!

As if Hasbro didn’t produce enough toys for the Episode I line, they also added quite a few novelty playthings to supplement the line as well. While many collectors overlooked these miscellaneous additions, generally speaking, many collectors got drawn to the Jabba Glob release. Essentially a “slime” toy, Jabba Glob incorporates a rubbery all-new sculpt of Jabba The Hutt paired with a water-based slime and chubas that you feed him while half of it sloppily runs don his face, hence the play value of this toy. Produced by Hasbro, Jabba Glob isn’t necessarily part of the Episode I toy line, but many collectors deemed the likeness of Jabba The Hutt one of Hasbro’s best efforts. In all honesty, it is. But what we found most confusing about it is that we’re not sure which Star Wars film Jabbas is sourced. We’d imagine that this is another “Episode I” version of Jabba The Hutt, but it looks more Original Trilogy based, with a few elements of the Special Edition Jabba The Hutt from Episode IV. As we had just mentioned a moment ago, this is a perplexing toy.

Jabba Glob is an all-new figure. When compared to the figure from 1999’s EI Jabba The Hutt With 2-Headed Announcer, it is significantly smaller. But we believe this version of Jabba is in closer scale than the Jabba The Hutt With 2-Headed Announcer release. Jabba Glob is a simply-articulated figure. It breaks at the head (and swivels at this point too) and has two swivel shoulders. Other than a cut-open mouth, that’s all the movement this figure has. Packed with Jabba Glob is the “glob” slime. And lastly, Jabba Glob comes with six green chubas that get mixed in with the slime to create the play feature here fully. Once you empty the contents into the head portion of Jabba, you then place the cylindrical container for the “glob” into the head of Jabba, so the contents fall back into it after you’re done “playing” with it. The effect is neat, but we don’t believe Jabba The Hutt ever ate this sloppily and disgustingly. Still, we get the point of this toy and understand why Hasbro took this direction with it. Kids will likely love the messiness of this toy, and collectors will appreciate the sculpting.

Jabba Glob is cast in an extremely rubber material. It’s so rubbery that you can squish the head of Jabba in the palm of your hand. It’s also pliable enough that you can “articulate” his mouth thanks to the cut made for the Jabba Glob play feature. You can also place all of the chubas into his mouth and hold them there. You have many options with this toy. Despite not officially part of the toy line, Hasbro gave Jabba Glob a fairly decent paint job. It doesn’t look like it received any less paint than the official Episode I release. The question for us is what film is the Jabba Glob based? The sculpt of Jabba looks like he is based on Return Of The Jedi. But the accessories assume this is based on The Phantom Menace. Perhaps Jabba Glob is a hybrid of the two? We’re not sure, but we do believe that if properly redone, this sculpt will serve as an excellent version of a Jabba The Hutt from Episode VI. (Editor’s Note: Hasbro revitalized this sculpt for the 2004 Star Wars “Saga” [Phase III] Jabba The Hutt (Jabba's Palace) Ultra figure.) Jabba Glob is a fun toy. We don’t know how well it will perform at retail, but you do get a decent Jabba The Hutt figure for a palatable price.
