Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter - ROTS - Vehicles

Obi-Wan Kenobi battles deadly starfighters while on a mission to rescue Chancellor Palpatine, who has been kidnapped by Separatist forces. As he heads for the vessel on which the Chancellor is being held, buzz droids attach themselves to his starfighter to destroy it.

One Hasbro has a base sculpt for a vehicle, you can wager your paychecks that they'll produce all the other vehicles that utilize the same tooling. With the release of Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter, they quickly produced Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter. With a new paint job and a new astromech droid in the droid socket, the last thing you’ll think is that they’re the same vehicle. These starfighter vehicles are well done, even if the physics of the astromech droid makes no sense at all. But despite the inconsistencies with the functionality of the vehicle, Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter turned out incredibly well and complements Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter beautifully. The vehicles in the Revenge Of The Sith mid-size vehicle assortment are turning out quite well, and Hasbro is creating a nice array of vehicles based on Episode III. There are a wealth of exclusive releases also part of the Revenge Of The Sith line that utilizes these vehicles too. And you can expect Hasbro to use them again for vehicles coming into future lines as well. Hasbro needs to reuse existing sculpts over and over to help keep costs down. Repainting them is a great way to bring newness to the line while keeping costs down. Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter is a great vehicle for 2005’s Revenge Of The Sith line.

Sourced from Revenge Of The Sith, Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter is the picture perfect example of what makes up a fantastic mid-size vehicle. Because Obi-Wan Kenobi is a mainstay in any basic figure line, Hasbro remains consistent with the vehicles he pilots and makes them readily available from line look to line look. The vehicle comes with the most-basic play features imaginable. But they work well for both kids and collectors. Coming with the same play features, a revised decal sheet and different paint operations, Hasbro has made Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter looks like its own entity. And they hope that collectors of all ages will find that Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter will warmly welcome this into their collections. The Revenge Of The Sith packaging is bright and fiery, and Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter looks great in front of the colorful background of the box. The back of the box has a brief bio on the vehicle and what Obi-Wan Kenobi experiences during the Battle of Coruscant, but also lists bullet points of the features included with the vehicle. Visually, the Revenge Of The Sith packaging is alright, but we’ve seen Hasbro produce line looks that are more interesting and colorful than what’s presented with this collection.

Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter is a win for those who have been collecting for years, as well as those who are new to the hobby. With features including an opening canopy, firing blaster cannons, wings that spring open, and retractable landing gear, Obi-Wan’s Jedi Starfighter is the perfect vehicle to add to your collection that focuses on toys from Revenge Of The Sith. But if you’re not really into what this vehicle offers, we understand that as well. We’re still waiting for Hasbro revise some of the features on Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter ourselves, especially the droid socket. Why can’t they figure out a way for the vehicle to accommodate a real astromech droid action figure in the droid socket? Yes, the design of the vehicle in the film makes this impossible, but they could have worked it into the toy. When you look at a figure like 2005’s ROTS R4-P17 (III 64), it interacts wonderfully with the vehicle. Imagine if the vehicle was designed in a way where you could place the R4-P17 action figure in the droid socket instead of the astromech droid “plug” they include instead. Sure, the action figure doesn’t sit in the droid socket all that well, but at least the astromech “plug” that comes with the vehicle is removable and can be placed on the side while you utilize R4-P17 instead. This vehicle is a great release. You should add it to your collection.
