Anakin Skywalker learned the ways of the Force by his mentor Obi-Wan Kenoi The young, hot-shot pilot trained hard and his powers grew strong, but he became corrupted by the dark side of the Force. Kenobi tried to bring him back to the light side, but it was too late. His star pupil had fallen too far, too fast.

Master and student inevitably clashed in a fearsome lightsaber diel that ended with Skywalker plummeting into a fiery put, where his body was hideously deformed. From that point on Anakin Skywalker became the merciless master of the dark side, Darth Vader, and ultimately gained the title Dark Lord of the Sith.

To keep his battered body alive, Vader equipped himself with an ominous black suit complete with flowing cape and body armor to house his life-support systems. His suit was also equipped with temperature and respiratory sensors installed into his computerized chest plate and utility belt. But most terrifying of all was his jet-black armored helmet, fitted with a specialized breathing device, voice synthesizer and full-spectrum optical lenses.

Aligning himself with the evil Emperor Palpatine, the two tyrants were able to gain power throughout the galaxy as their Galactic Empire destroyed all who stood in its way of total domination.

Authentically styled straight from the movies, Darth Vader features his highly detailed outfit complete with cape, and comes armed with his signature lightsaber. This special edition 12" figure, available for the first time ever, is destined to become a classic collectible.

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

What line of Star Wars action figures would be complete without the addition of Darth Vader? Part of the first wave of the Collector Series line, Darth Vader doesn’t fully measure up to our expectations of the character. But it’s not an entirely terrible effort either. Because Kenner/Hasbro utilized previously existing GI Joe bucks to create the Star Wars Collector Series line, Darth Vader is much too short in scale to the other figures in the line (and the other figures in this case assortment). When posed next to Luke Skywalker or Han Solo, Darth Vader’s helmet is laughably too small, and his stature looks shrunken, which is not a good aesthetic for a premium collector’s line like the Collector Series. However, if you look at the Darth Vader 12 Inch Figure by itself, it does have some redeeming quality. The ribbed body glove fits the figure’s frame closely. And the chest box detail and the cod section covering are beautifully designed and painted. The gloves on Darth Vader look silly, almost like boxing gloves. They show that the hands are in a fisted position, and they look too big and bulky for the figure. Kenner Hasbro drilled a circular hole in Darth Vader’s right glove. And this allows you to feed the lightsaber hilt down into the hand for posing. The best feature of Darth Vader is the flowing cape. It’s woven from a silky fabric with a heavy drape, so it hangs and gathers as it does in the film. This costume of Darth Vader is based on his appearance from The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. So, this particular Darth Vader is a bit out of place with the A New Hope wave focus of which the figure is part. Darth Vader is NOT a definitive figure. It has many issues. But it does have some charm too.
