Stormtrooper - POTF2 [R/G] - Collector Series

Outfitted in protective white armor from head to toe, Imperial stormtroopers can best be described as the shock troops of the Galactic Empire. They are the soldiers who must obey every command and risk their lives without hesitation, especially if their orders come straight from Darth Vader or the evil Emperor himself! And as proven in past battles with Rebel soldiers, stormtroopers are often considered "disposable" by their leaders, sacrificed for the food of the Empire.

Below their armor plating, stormtroopers wear insulated black suits to protect them from varying atmospheric temperatures. Oxygen is supplied through breathing devices within their helmets, which also contain comlink communications and include protective eye shields. Their weapons of choice are Imperial-issue blaster pistols and rifles, and they are transported in all types of vehicles from Star Destroyers to All Terrain Scout Transports.

Authentically styled straight from Star Wars, this 12" tall stormtrooper comes complete with an Imperial blaster and ammo belt. This special edition figure, available for the first time ever, is destined to become a classic collectible.

Despite making great headway with the Collector Series like with the likes of Lando Calrissian and Tusken Raider from the second wave, Kenner/Hasbro took a few steps back with a couple of the figures produced for the third wave. Sadly, wave three comprised of some of the greatest Star Wars characters of all time, and collectors were looking forward to what Hasbro would do with them in the Collector Series lineup. Going in a diametrically opposite direction of the vintage Kenner Stormtrooper Large Size Action Figure, Kenner/Hasbro opted to keep the buck of the 1996 GI Joe body type, add a soft-goods body glove and then sew on rubbery armor for a new aesthetic. The new aesthetic sadly fails. The result is a much-too-bulky frame. The rubbery armor panels, despite being sewn onto the body glove, don’t fall in the right places because their drape is not correct. And the figure is nearly impossible to position in any action pose, thanks to feet that are half the length of the boots in which they sit. Overall, the Stormtrooper is a mess. It’s only saving grace is the helmet, and that’s also a feature that could use some fine-tuning as well. Why didn’t Kenner/Hasbro mold an all-new and fully plastic body (like the 1979 figure)? Imagine a proportioned Imperial soldier with added articulation points for ultimately poseable figure, while maintaining the close-fitting aesthetic of their athletic frames. The Collector Series Stormtrooper looks like he ate way too much food for many years and is busting out of his armor because of it. We wish we could report better findings of this figure, but for us, it fails on most levels. Stormtrooper comes with an E-11 blaster, but if you plan to position the figure in interesting ways while holding it, expect to lose your cool. The Stormtrooper won’t stand up unassisted easily at all.
