A veteran of the Galactic Civil War who fought for the Rebellion, Cara Dune is a seasonal warrior who has put her days of military discipline behind her, and now has reinvented herself as a mercenary.
Wow! It’s more than possible that Cara Dune is the perfect woman. With stunning beauty, an attractive womanly shape (she’s got some beautiful curves on her), and an arsenal of weapons, it feels like Disney Star Wars is finally getting serious on how they represent a woman in the franchise. No more skinny chicks wiping out legions of troopers at once, (or other overgeneralizations), but hopefully you catch the point. This is fantastic! Cara Dune possesses a spirit of Ellen Louise Ripley. She exudes her confidence, and there are some elements they share with each other. She’s outfitted in protective armor. And she utilizes a blaster pistol that fits into her holster, Yet she also can brandish a large, heavy assault rifle like the best of them, and she looks amazing doing so. Cara Dune is a new character in The Mandalorian television show. And if you don’t pay attention to any of the spoilers, you may not be sure of her loyalties. Does she battle alongside the Mandalorian? Is she one of his enemies? All of that will soon be revealed, hopefully. In the meantime, we have a fabulous The Black Series [Phase III] 6” figure to enjoy, and it is easily one of Hasbro's greatest efforts to date. The figures in the 6” line are getting better and better, and Cara Dune proves this beyond expectations. She’s, without question, one of the nicest looking 6” figures we’ve seen in this line, and she’ll have a high ranking as one of Hasbro best figures of 2019.
Let us say it again. Cara Dune is an attractive female warrior. We’ve mentioned that she has elements of Ellen Ripley, but we’re not attempting to make a direct comparison to the Aliens character. She doesn’t physically imitate her. But the spirit of Ellen Ripley is apparent in Cara Dune. We hope that her onscreen character interactions reinforce what we’re feeling here. But Cara Dune, physically, follows more in the physical footsteps of somewhere on a scale that spans somewhere in between Lucy Lawless and Rhona Mitra. More specifically, Cara Dune is a beautiful female, and Hasbro made sure they produced a beautiful action figure. She has some meat on her bones. She’s not “heavy” in any way, but it’s quite incredible that we have a female character that doesn’t have the frame of a young schoolboy, like Rey, for example. Cara Dune has some girth, and her stature warns those who oppose to tread lightly. Cara Dune is an action figure that is graced with a fantastic articulation system too. Her joints move well and can achieve a wealth of positions thanks to well-constructed parts and premium articulation points. What’s more, Cara Dune has an exquisite paint job. Hasbro did a wonderful job of matching her color scheme to the onscreen character without sacrificing any detail. Photo Real is applied to her face, and Hasbro was sure to capture her facial tattoo as well.
Cara Dune comes with a nice amount of accessories. Our favorite accessory is the dagger. She can hold it in both hands, but there is a little more “grasp” when you place it into her left hand because the position of her hand is in a “more” closed position. She also comes with a blaster pistol. When not in use, it can be housed in the functioning blaster on her right hip. It’s best utilized in her left hand too. Lastly, Cara Dune comes with a strapped heavy blaster rifle where the strap is completely removable from the gun. This allows you to drape it over her shoulders when not in use, or remove it to have her hold the blaster rifle with two hands. All of the accessories are beautifully designed. Hasbro has paid close attention to the reference materials to design the nicest accessories possible to interact with the figures. It feels like The Mandalorian has great promise. We feel in the air that it’s going to be a hit show. If Disney Star Wars can keep out the politics, tie the Original Trilogy as much as they can to the stories in the show, and keep developing believable characters like Cara Dune, we think that all expectations will be met. We also hope that Hasbro continues to make wonderful action figures of the characters from the show. We don’t feel there are enough characters produced to support this show. They need to keep coming. But until Hasbro produces more, be sure to enjoy Cara Dune.
