Jawas prepare droids for a possible sale to Luke's Uncle Owen.

Kenner/Hasbro didn’t produce many Collector Series or Action Collection figures with electronics, but when it came to the small-scaled line, Hasbro ensured that they applied them to one of the figures in the first wave, the Jawa. With electronic “light-up” yellow eyes, Kenner/Hasbro did their best to recreate these iconic characters in the 12 Inch Figure scale with some incredible screen-accuracy. Despite this, although the Jawa turned out well, it’s not a perfect interpretation of the on-screen characters, especially in the head portion. However, a well-fitting cloak covers up most of the Jawa’s body, including the head, and recreates a genuine realization of the character. With a burlap-y texture and the proper amount of wrinkling and near-perfect color, the Jawa looks fantastic dressed in it. It’s held in place with a double clasped brown bandolier. Kenner/Hasbro also added few accessories with the Jawa, including a strapped ionization blaster rifle and a droid caller. With all of the accessories in place, the Jawa looks amazing. When all of the Jawa’s gear is removed, the action figure looks incredibly bizarre. Kenner/Hasbro utilized a shiny plastic that looks odd. We wish they used a duller plastic with less sheen instead. We would have also liked to see more articulation as well, but that wasn’t part of the plans here. An admirable effort, the Jawa may not hit all of the sweet spots we’d like to see for a 12 Inch Figure, but there is no way to claim it’s without merit.
