Clad in distinctive metallic armor, Captain Phasma commands the First Order's legions of troopers. Having survived the destruction of Starkiller Base, she has a personal score to settle with the Resistance.

What your confusion all about here? Captain Phasma from The Last Jedi in Solo: A Star Wars Story makes COMPLETE sense. It’s you. Not Hasbro. Ugh. As if we didn’t need anything else to clog the pegs and shelves, Hasbro thought it’d make PERFECT sense to re-release a former Toys R Us exclusive in new packaging and trick Walmart into taking for the second round instead. OK, maybe it wasn’t that duplicitous of a business decision to get the Captain Phasma 12 Inch Figure out to the market again. After all, the Toys R Us version in The Force Awakens packaging did sell well, to the point of selling out once or twice. The figure has a dynamic sculpt that’s not too action-oriented. And although they still won’t utilize the vac-metallization process on Star Wars figures, Captain Phasma has a glimmery silver finish that should satisfy most collectors of its faux-chrome finish. This release is based on Captain Phasma from The Last Jedi and not The Force Awakens. And the only way you’ll know that nugget of information is from the bio on the back of the packaging. It’s not like Hasbro included the Episode VIII-specific accessories with this release, much to our chagrin.

We challenge anyone to deny how spectacular Ms. Phasma looks in this 12-Inch Figure scale. We are guilty of joining the throngs of criticism over these cheaply made figures. Still, even the simplest action figure, when done correctly, can almost soothe and calm the most cantankerous rage that is so focused on the direction Hasbro has taken the Star Wars line in recent years. OK, so maybe that sounds a bit melodramatic, but we have to be honest with you. The Captain Phasma 12-Inch Figure is a beautiful toy, and the low MSRP of $14.99 (once again) should make this purchase an easy one for you. A quality sculpt combined with brilliant (literally and figuratively) paint operations joined by interactivity and functionality is a pure win. Value and quality just haven’t paired up to well in the Hasbro Star Wars brand lately. The lack of "good stuff" unequivocally changes everything. Captain Phasma has a stunning sculpt. If you look at any other 12-Inch Figure in the line to date, the poses could not be any more static with the arms perfectly down the sides of the figures and the legs stiffer than boards. With a ball-socket head, we’re sure the head is removable, which would make the cape removable, but we decided against playing chicken and perhaps damaging the figure. Either way, there is enough movement in the cape where you can view her entire armor without issue: front and back.

Captain Phasma also comes with a golden First Order blaster, and thankfully, Hasbro added a slot on the right thigh armor which allows you to holster the blaster when not in use. Captain Phasma can also hold it well with both of her hands (which come with swivel wrists by the way). Simply put, the figure looks marvelous. There is a major lack of interest in the Hasbro toy line, especially for the Sequel Trilogy characters. So, the re-release of the Captain Phasma 12-Inch Figure wasn’t the best decision. After all, Captain Phasma was more fatalistic in The Last Jedi than in The Force Awakens. She’s a throwaway character, and many Star Wars fans have little interest in her. Why couldn’t Hasbro tool new baton accessories or add some battle-damage to the helmet to give this version of the character a more TLJ vibe? No, Hasbro expects that the same old figure will sell better a second time. It’s a maddening state of affairs. Now, Walmart is stuck with this dud, and it will be entering clearance outfits before we know it. Hasbro’s distribution issues may have unnecessarily delayed getting this exclusive to Walmart. And it barely appeared online before getting dumped at Ollie’s for pennies on the dollar. Regardless of where you stand, there is little to no need for a second release of the Captain Phasma 12-Inch Figure. It’s a nice-looking figure, but they can’t keep re-releasing the same stuff over and over again.
