The captain and heart of the Ghost crew, Hera Syndulla was a gifted pilot and leader. The Twi'lek could bring out the best in her team, making them believe in themselves.

Holy cow! The Photo Real update to The Black Series [Phase IV] Hera Syndulla (SWR05) figure is a dead ringer for Lynda Carter circa 1979 in a green Twi’lek costume. Look at that face! All we can hear is the third season Wonder Woman theme song when we ogle the figure! The 2017 version of Hera Syndulla wasn’t bad by any means at all. One of the last characters from The Ghost crew produced in 6” form, Hasbro had a lot of experience under their belt when it came to these characters. They also managed to improve the legs of Hera Syndulla before the final production figure made it to the factories. So, Hasbro was “in it to win it” when it came to Star Wars Rebels. As an act of grace and mercy, Hasbro decided to launch the fourth phase of The Black Series 6” line with a collection of all the Star Wars Rebels characters as Fan Channel exclusives. Wherever possible, Hasbro updated the deco with Photo Real, and they also changed a few of the paint operations to make them as close to screen-accurate as possible. If you’re not interested in repurchasing these action figures once again, well, we’re surprised. All of them went for a lot of money on the aftermarket, and now they look better than ever, especially a character like Hera Syndulla.

The first version of Hera Syndulla came with green eyes. With the Photo Real update, Hera has the greenish-blue eyes seen in the Star Wars Rebels television series. And thanks to Photo Real, we’re blown away by the figure’s resemblance to actress Lynda Carter. If you don’t see the resemblance we do, we don’t know how that’s possible. But whatever. The enhancements made to this figure are noteworthy, and they make the first version obsolete. It’s our opinion that you should listen to us and update your Star Wars Rebels collection of 6” figures with these re-releases. Hera Syndulla captures the realistic interpretation flawlessly of an animated character, but the action figure is also one of the most functional we had seen Hasbro produce before they incorporated the articulation upgrades. Hasbro spared no expense with thinner arms and legs here, nor did they try to dumb her down when it came to articulation. Hera Syndulla is a Hasbro triumph, and the figure has been done so well that it makes us want to know a little more about the character and how she influences the Star Wars timeline. See, Hasbro is solely responsible for Star Wars’ popularity. This effect happened with The Clone Wars line. The figures developed an interest in the show.

Hera Syndulla has an incredible likeness, especially with Photo Real updating. Hasbro had to carefully translate her unique animated features into a realistic interpretation that didn’t sacrifice the integrity of the character’s unique features. They succeeded here. The head is about as perfect as you could hope for, and they manage to capture her warm expression that exists behind the eyes to impressive levels. The excellent head sculpt has been brought to life with lovely paint operations. They have been neatly applied and expertly colored. The green color of the skin complements the orange and brown outfit beautifully. In case you’ve forgotten, Hasbro originally intended the 2017 version of the figure to be part of the Darth Revan (34) wave, but Hera Syndulla was pulled so that Hasbro could rework the articulation in her legs to be more realistic. The joints were in the wrong place and gave the form a bizarre appearance. Hera Syndulla is too lightly accessorized. The figure comes with a tiny blaster pistol that can be housed in a holster that Hasbro sculpted into the right lower leg. Why didn’t Hasbro include removable goggles? Or why not include another more massive blaster? Or why not add some handheld console to recreate her flying the Ghost? It seems like this character deserves more still.
