Deeply spiritual, Chirrut Îmwe believes all living things are connected through the Forec. Though he lacks Force abilities, this warrior monk has rigorously honed his body through intense physical and mental discipline.

The Photo Real update isn’t the only “new” detail with the re-released The Black Series [Phase IV] Chirrut Îmwe action figure. For years, Hasbro added the wrong accent to the capital I in the character’s last name. For the latest update, they got it right. And if you’re into linguistics, you’re probably a happy collector than those on average. The first 6-inch version of Chirrut Îmwe wasn’t bad at all. The character is blind, so the action figure didn’t need a lot of detail since the eyes were mainly milky blue. But the Photo Real upgrade is here, and the figure looks better than the previous release. Throughout the new version’s paint job, you’ll find color and detail differences. But overall, this is the supervisor version of Chirrut Îmwe. As you know well by now, Hasbro is re-releasing an entire collection of 6-inch action figures from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They’re all arriving at us via the Fan Channel and come with Photo Real deco updates and new packaging, amongst other things. To help complement this series of action figures, Hasbro also included a brand new formation of a character they negligently omitted previously, and that character is Bodhi Rook. Many collectors are excited about these reissues, but others feel it’s another cash-grab from the greedy toymaker. For the record, we’re happy to see the upgrades released.

Upon its first release, Chirrut Îmwe exceeded our expectations. Its only issue was its availability. If you recall, both Baze Malbus and Chirrut Ímwe were the only two new figures from their original six-figure case assortment. And stock dried up almost instantly. Hasbro got more out, but not after they aggravated the collecting community. Now, the availability for this great character won’t be an issue, and with paint job updates and beautiful new packaging, it’s a win for everyone involved. There is much to enjoy with Chirrut Îmwe. Hasbro has designed a screen-accurate face sculpt. Thankfully the character’s blind eyes are all blue, and Hasbro recreated this detail with the Photo Real nicely. The sculpt is almost perfect, and the standard articulation of the 6-inch figure line is worked in here wonderfully. Chirrut Îmwe comes with a fantastic range of movement, and the figure can attain an incredible amount of positions. What we’re incredibly impressed with are Chirrut Îmwe’s soft goods. Hasbro generously provided two layers of red and black to help recreate the distinct multilayered look. They lay flatly on the figure and look like part of the outfit. Hasbro also decorated the black layer with a red band highlighted with white outer lines. It looks amazing. Hasbro also worked in molded soft goods that hung down the figure’s back. Despite this, everything feels seamless.

Chirrut Îmwe comes with unbelievably detailed weaponry too. The first is the walking stick. Hasbro paid careful attention to their source materials and crafted a very lifelike accessory here. What’s more, it is split into two parts for extra play value. In all honesty, the attachment that holds the two parts together is fragile, and we imagine susceptible to breakage, so be careful. We fear that breakage is easily imminent for anyone. Both of the figure’s hands accommodate it well. The other accessory included here is the lightbow, and that too breaks down into four separate pieces. It also has articulation when fully assembled. The “bow” sections are hinge-jointed and fan out away from the body of the lightbow. And the lightbow also has two handles, so you can make Chirrut Îmwe hold it with both hands if you so desire. The figure looks fantastic doing so. The coloring is a bit off on the accessories, but it’s not a deal-breaker for us at least, and we’re delighted with how they turned out. Lastly, the molded cape/belt combination is removable, but it takes some time to remove it from the figure. Also, the figure looks better with it fastened anyhow. Overall, we’re impressed with all of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story reissues thus far, and Chirrut Îmwe is one of the highlights. This action figure is a well-loved character, and the updates make it more enjoyable.
