All different types of droids populate the Star Wars galaxy. Each droid is different and has their own unique personality and colors. These four are featured in Star Wars: The Mandalorian.

This is the way... for you and your Droids!

There is something new and fresh in the Disney Droid Factory line, and it comes in the form of the R6-D3/MA-13/R1/N0-AH astromech droid four-pack, although there is more newness here than you might expect from a line that mostly repaints and rehashes its figures. Oh yes, and there is some of that too, but to a lesser extent. For the first time, Disney treated collectors to the line’s first humanoid astromech droid, MA-13, a new dome to a yet-unidentified series of astromech, N0-AH, and then an all-new take as the R1 unit, called “R1” in this multipack. R6-D3 is the only “rehash” here, so that’s quite a feat that we get so much newness here. All four characters are based on those seen in the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. Some have more screentime than others, but they’re all equally represented in this four-pack, and it’s sure to make collectors of The Vintage Collection 3.75-inch line get the much-ignored droids by Hasbro into their collections. Hasbro seemingly hates to produce droid action figures, and while there are some fantastic exceptions like The Vintage Collection's Power Droid (VC167) figure, it appears they rely on Disney to get them out to collectors.

R6-D3 is the most “vanilla” figure in this set. Based on the long-running R6-series astromech droid tooling, Disney repainted the figure with copper panels along with some “dirt” to give the action figure a “lived in universe” appearance. It’s nicely painted and fits into the rest of the line beautifully. We’ll have to see if the character has more screen time in the future as we don’t know much about it. The figure will work well in Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy displays, especially for Attack Of The Clones Coruscant scenes. The biggest surprise in The Mandalorian astromech droid four-pack in MA-13. This character is a new type of astromech droid introduced into the Star Wars universe. And at first glance, the figure might remind you of Jack Skellington from The Nightmare Before Christmas (in droid form). It breaks down into an astounding 13 pieces, and the articulation count is 20 points. They worked in both swivel and ball-jointed articulation into the action figure, and you can achieve some neat action-oriented poses if you so desire. MA-13 also comes with a staff accessory, and you can pose it in one hand or two. Disney impressed us with this figure. It was unexpected and turned out incredible.

R1 has a basic name, much to our chagrin, but turned out nicely as well. Unlike the previous R1 unit produced by Disney, this one cannot stand unassisted, so they added a silver display stand to prevent the action figure’s rounded bottom from toppling the figure. R1 was entirely charcoal gray, with some yellow detail, including the Rebel Alliance insignia in its center, and has new attachments that we’ve not seen before on a character like this. With only two points of articulation, R1 can’t do much but sit and look pretty, but it’s nice to get another version of the astromech type in our collections. Finally, Disney added N0-AH to this set. As of its release, it remains an unknown astromech droid type. We can tell you that the droid is mainly based on the R2-series astromech droid but comes with an all-new dome. And we noticed that Disney might have plans for this droid because the underside of the dome has some special compartments worked into the tooling, yet Disney glued them shut on the outside of the droid’s dome. Looking a lot like a mascot for the Miami Dolphins, we’re interested to see where Disney Star Wars will take this new astromech droid type in their stories. This set has an MSRP of $44.99.
