A cunning warrior and Jedi Knight during the rise of the Clone Wars, Aayla fought on many battlefields. A master of the emotional detachment necessary in the Jedi Order, she tried to pass on what she learned.
There’s a great deal of feigning and praise for The Black Series Aayla Secura figure, and we don’t believe it is entitled to all of the positivity it is receiving. Before we begin, this wave of The Black Series figures is an enigma. In some markets, the wave arrived the fourth quarter of 2022, but many collectors saw the wave for the first time in the second quarter of 2023. Hasbro still has major nightmares when it comes to distribution. That said, the wave is arriving concurrently with the next one, and many retail outlets have them on the shelves together. But even despite Aayla Secura’s availability, the figure has a few issues. Aayla Secura is 50% old and 50% new. The legs are from 2021’s TBS [P4] Aurra Sing (TCW08) figure. But the rest of the figure is all-new. Hasbro mastered the body form of Aayla Secura well. The figure has a beautiful, sexy, and attractive female form. There is no mistaking this, but although Hasbro developed a stunning body type for a female action figure as athletic as Aayla Secura, they messed up the face.
Firstly, the head sculpt is excellent. We’re not saying it is terrible or anything like that. But the likeness more closely matches the character’s appearance in The Clone Wars series instead of Attack Of The Clones. In short, Aayla Secura does not resemble Amy Allen in the slightest, but rather, the 3D animated character from the show. Another issue with Aayla Secura is the figure’s inability to stand well. Our sample falls over constantly because the “rocker” ankles are too loose and don’t support the figure’s weight enough. Unfortunately, we have seen online that this is a widespread issue and something we wished Hasbro had caught before mass-producing the figure. Despite the figure’s flaws, there is much to celebrate here too. Hasbro tooled and etched and lovely amount of detail into Aayls Secura’s costume. From the ridges in the side horns to the leather texture of the shirt, you will find that the sculptors at Hasbro do pay attention to the slightest details. We wish they were more consistent with this approach.
The reused legs also blend seamlessly without doing any revised tooling to them. So, Hasbro was lucky here. The figure’s paint job is stunning. Once again, Hasbro picked a light blue color that matches the character from The Clone Wars. Aayla Secura has darker blue skin in Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith. This fact makes the figure inaccurate to the live-action films. Aayla Secura is lightly accessorized but comes with the basics. Hasbro tooled a brilliant hilt and included a blue blade for the lightsaber accessory. The figure holds the lightsaber accessory well and looks incredible in the various action poses you create with it. We hoped for an authentic version of Aayla Secura from the Star Wars film. Having a version of the character based on The Clone Wars is alright, but our preference is a realistic look for our action figures. Many will overlook the setbacks here, and that’s fine. Aayla Secura is an excellent addition to The Black Series line. And it’s hard to believe this is only the third figure in the Attack of The Clones “fourth phase” series!
Status: Aayla Secura is a kit-bashed and repainted figure that uses the legs from 2021's TBS [P4] Aurra Sing (TCW08) figure. The rest of the figure is all-new.
