Pre Vizsla was governor of Concordia, a moon of Mandalore, during the Clone Wars. Behind closed doors, he led Death Watch, a secret group of commandos seeking control of Mandalore.
Well, Hasbro did little to bring Pre Vizsla to life in The Vintage Collection lineup, but you're likely not going to care one way or another. The new-ish super-articulated Pre Vizsla, based on the character's Season 4 and Season 5 appearance in The Clone Wars, brings a lot of beauty to the table. However, if you have the figure's predecessors, you know what to expect here. Pre Vizsla has been a longstanding popular character from The Clone Wars television series. The Mandalorian bounty hunter has many essential plot points in the saga's timeline. When the character changed appearance from the earlier episodes in the later seasons, collectors hoped Hasbro would bring the "new and improved" look into the 3.75-inch The Vintage Collection format. The action figure is a success. It's beautiful. It has a stunning head sculpt with excellent Photo Real application. And there is enough newness here to make the most discriminating collectors happy, although it's an impossible task to make everyone happy. Let's take a deeper dive into what this action figure offers collectors.
Hasbro took the popular 2022 TVC Mandalorian Super Commando (VC243) figure as the basis for Pre Vizsla. Then, they tooled an all-new portrait, new forearms, and hands and designed a new belt around the figure's center. For accessories, they developed a new darksaber and a new jetpack. The new jetpack is impressive and attaches to the action figure beautifully. The figure also comes with an all-new removable helmet, but much to our chagrin, Hasbro didn't add articulation to the antennae, so they're stuck in one position for all time. However, the helmet's design is gorgeous, and the paint operations Hasbro gave it do it justice. It looks remarkable. All the accessories combine to create an authentic, realistically styled, super-articulated 3.75-inch version of Pre Vizsla. And the figure looks fantastic with or without its helmet. You have an incredible number of options for posing and displaying this action figure with others. Perhaps most importantly, we're thrilled to see so many characters from The Clone Wars in The Vintage Collection get the limelight. They're deserving of inclusion here.
Although we're very familiar with the articulation system of this figure thanks to previous action figures before Pre Vizsla, we're happy to report that it functions beautifully on this figure as it did on others. Pre Vizsla attains and holds various positions, and the figure's center of gravity is solid and helps to balance the figure in some of the trickier poses you attempt. Its 27 points of articulation work wonders how you approach posing this action figure. Overall, we're delighted with how well Pre Vizla turned out. However, we hope that Hasbro will decide to revisit the earlier season of this character and update 2010's TCW [SOTDS] Pre Vizsla (CW08) figure. As much as we love that one, we're desperate to see a realistic interpretation of that character in The Vintage Collection, too. Pre Vizsla is part of a solid wave of action figures that spans some of the recent Star Wars entertainment in the Disney Star Wars universe. We will still champion the continuation of characters from the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy, but if we have to get Disney characters, this is the way to do them. Pre Vizsla has an MSRP of $16.99, and although we find that pricing egregious, at least we're getting a remarkable action figure for that chunk of change.
