The journey from dark side back to the light is complete as the legendary Revan finds redemption as a white-robed Jedi Knight.
A Hunter-Killer droid from the Old Republic era, HK-47 is a deadly assassin with a dark sense of humor.
With the fabulous release of 2023's TVC Darth Revan (VC301) figure, you should have anticipated the imminent repaints. Hasbro spent no time getting out another Revan to collectors, this time Jedi Knight Revan based on the Galaxy Of Heroes free mobile game. Most collectors buying the Jedi Knight Revan/HK-47 multipack set won't be interested in the video game, but they will be interested in the action figures. Hasbro takes both old and new to produce an exciting figure duo that dates back to the Knights Of The Old Republic video game. HK-47 is an old Build A Droid figure but holds up well after all these years. We're still determining if it's TVC material, but it's nice to see the figure carded finally. Sadly, its likeness isn't screen-accurate, and Hasbro should retool it a bit more to freshen it up to modern standards. We're getting ahead of ourselves, so let's look deeper at this long-awaited action figure two-pack. This $40 set is overpriced but has some excellent content here.
Darth Revan has a molded hood, but the skirt is made of a material like jersey cotton. Our only complaint is that the skirt inhibits some lower body movement, but the figure looks lovely overall. Underneath the molded hood is a simple but nicely painted portrait. It looks very much like the character from a video game. However, the tooling and detail in the action figure's body are more impressive. Hasbro accentuated the figure by incorporating gorgeous metallic gold, bronze, and black paint operations that contrast the mostly off-white character. Hasbro needed to be more light on the action figure's accessories. We longed to have Darth Revan's hilt in addition to the fully-lit lightsaber, but all we get is the purple lightsaber and the molded hood. Jedi Knight Revan's articulation system is fantastic. It has the latest premium points of articulation, and you can position it well despite the long skirt. Overall, we couldn't be happier about how well Revan turned out. What we're not so sure about is its partner in crime here, HK-47.
After 14 years, Hasbro dusted off the HK-47 tooling and placed it on a basic card. It's an interesting release. It is a repaint of the figure and differs significantly from the original regarding the paint applications. HK-47 was the first Build A Droid figure to come with a weapon, which has been carried forward here. The gun gives the droid the right amount of extra attitude and confirms that it is a character you best not face to face with at any point. Another thing that adds more 'attitude' to this figure is the stance. Its legs are angled, ideally looking like a soldier of war. HK-47, whose name was inspired by the AK-47 assault rifle, is an ethnocentric assassin droid who refers to organic beings as "meat bags." Created by Darth Revan, HK-47's mission was to destroy the Jedi so it could dominate the universe. It's a good addition here, but it's overstayed its welcome in the basic figure line. It was a difficult figure to get all of the Build A Droid parts for, but that doesn't mean the demand is still there. Or maybe it is.
