Here is another straight repack for the Retro Collection line. Not too much unlike Luke Skywalker (Jedi Academy) or The Mandalorian, Grogu is another repack in the Retro Collection assortments based on characters from The Book Of Boba Fett; previously called The Child in The Mandalorian wave, Grogu gets a proper first name and a blue backpack so you can create the character’s training by Luke Skywalker in the many heartwarming scenes from the controversial The Book Of Boba Fett Disney+ series. Collectors knew Hasbro would all but guarantee that if they made a series of Retro Collection action figures based on The Mandalorian, we would receive The Child as part of the mix. The sad thing is that the Retro Collection version and The Vintage Collection version do not vary much from one another, save for the paint operation differences and a couple of articulation points. But they now transitioned the Retro Collection The Child figure into Grogu from The Book Of Boba Fett. And they included a frog accessory that perfectly complements the action figure, perhaps a little more than the blue backpack. It’s a simple action figure and doesn’t bring too much to the table that we haven’t seen previously. The blue backpack works well with the Luke Skywalker (Jedi Academy) action figure. And it has an excellent center of gravity and holds up Grogu without falling. Grogu comes with simple paint operations to imitate the action figures from the Kenner era. It will be curious to see if Hasbro produces this specific version of the character based on The Book Of Boba Fett for The Vintage Collection. Collectors who enjoy anything related to “Baby Yoda” will likely find some interest in the Retro Collection Grogu release. It’s cute and kitschy, and “Baby Yoda” will probably outlive us all.
