Ahsoka Tano, a young Togruta, was the Padawan learner to Anakin Skywalker and a hero of the Clone Wars.
How long Hasbro’s taken to produce the Padawan version of Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars into The Black Series 6-inch line is remarkable. Although inconsistent with the character’s “first” outfit in the series, when carting around Rotta the Hutt, this outfit reflects the character’s Season 3 outfit, which covers up more skin and creates a refined and more conservative look for the Togruta. While Hasbro developed the super-articulated 3.75-inch versions of this particular Ahsoka Tano in a realistic style, Hasbro decided to go with the animated look for The Black Series version. This all-new figure looks incredible and quickly became one of our favorite figures for 2023, even though it has some reduced articulation like many more recent figures. Ahsoka Tano (Padawan) doesn’t come with too many accessories. Hasbro included the character’s lightsaber and shoto, and both break down into hilt and blade, and that’s all we get here. Coincidentally, Ahsoka’s left hand doesn’t accommodate either the lightsaber or shoto well. With some precarious balancing, you can make it stay in place, but it falls out easily, and we’re pretty disappointed that Hasbro didn’t engineer this part of the figure better. However, the right hand welcomes both hilts gracefully, and the figure looks impressive in handling them. Hasbro added two ports in Ahsoka’s belt. And each hilt has a plug where you can hang them when not ignited. Overall, the paint operations on Ahsoka Tano (Padawan) are beautiful, and they did a fantastic job matching the figure’s coloring to the series. The lines are clean without overspray, and the Photo Real facial applications look remarkable. Like all Ahsoka Tano action figures, the design of the head tails makes the entire movement impossible, but we do get a wide range here, which is satisfactory. Collectors should adore what Hasbro accomplished with the Ahsoka Tano (Padawan) action figure. Seeing so many characters from The Clone Wars get a slot in The Black Series 6-inch line is lovely. We wish they’d focus on more of those than the awful characters from the dreadful Disney Star Wars shows instead. It will be interesting to see how far back Hasbro goes on The Clone Wars timeline to make some of the most popular characters from the series. There are so many they could design and release, so we hope they keep their options open.
