The leader of a tribe of Tusken Raiders, the Tusken Chieftain captured Boba Fett after his escape from the Sarlacc in the Great Pit of Carkoon.
Ever looking to save a buck while introducing characters from the new Disney Star Wars universe, Hasbro manages this process by adding action figures like the Tusken Chieftain into The Black Series 6-inch figure line. Using most of the 2017’s The Black Series [Anniversary Collection] Sand People figure, Hasbro adds another character into the relatively small subset of The Book Of Boba Fett action figures collection. In addition to reusing the arms and legs of the 2017 figure, Hasbro also added an all-new portrait, torso, molded skirt, new non-removable accessories, a soft-goods cloak, and a long staff. Hasbro also repainted the reused parts. Much to our surprise, Hasbro first attacked this figure for the audience of The Vintage Collection. This particular Tusken Raider is in the September 2023 “Troop Builder” set, a shared exclusive between Hasbro Toy Shop and Shop Disney. Now, we get the 6-inch version, and it looks great, although it doesn’t have many counterparts to interact with, so you may find it a boring addition to the lineup. The all-new portrait is excellent and is better than the 3.75-inch version., The paint operations throughout the figure are also awesomely applied. In our sample, the breathing apparatus doesn’t hang nicely. We also found it odd that the soft goods aren’t removable. For a reused figure, they did a fantastic job of making the old feel brand new again. Generally speaking, collectors will find the Tusken Chieftain a worthwhile addition to their collections. But it still irks us that this line is as expensive as it is, especially for figures with reused parts. Also working against this action figure is its source. If Hasbro had learned to avoid the characters from Disney Star Wars, their bottom line might have performed better.
Status: Tusken Chieftain is a kit-bashed figure that reuses the arms and legs of 2017's TBS6 [SW40] Sand People figure. The The portrait, torso, molded skirt, non-removable accessories, soft-goods cloak, and staff are all-new. The reused parts have also been repainted.
