Wow, just oh wow. The Vintage Collection Jango Fett figure triumphs in the 3.75-inch super-articulated basic figure line. Unfortunately, Hasbro takes away from its magnificence with a ridiculous packaging and pricing scam that Star Wars collectors are sick to death of and no longer want to see implemented. There is NO REASON for Jango Fett to be a “deluxe” action figure. 2011’s TVC Jango Fett (VC34) came with more accessories than this one, and Hasbro sold that one for $8.99 back in the day. Here, we only get seven relevant accessories for this interpretation of Jango Fett based on scenes from the Battle of Geonosis in Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. Once again, the action figure is magnificent. From the dead ringer likeness of the portrait to actor Temura Morrison to the stunning paint operations, which faithfully integrates both the shiny silver detailing and the unmistakable purple jumpsuit underneath, the 2024 version of Jango Fett finally gives collectors the definitive interpretation of this now-classic bounty hunter who is the father of the most notorious bounty hunter in the galaxy, Boba Fett. And to think they did this successfully with mostly existing parts. While we can all anticipate a single-carded release of Jango Fett at some point in the line (and we hope we do), there are a few things we’d like to see implemented to ensure that Hasbro gives us truly definitive versions of this character in The Vintage Collection. There is still work to be done!

Hasbro crafted a perfect Jango Fett action figure with this release. There are only a few new parts here, so it makes no sense why Hasbro needs to charge as much as it can for it to pay its way into the lineup. The portrait entirely blows us away. Hasbro tooled a stunning interpretation of Jango Fett’s clone face, which captures the on-screen character’s attitude, tone, and scarring. You’re going to love what Hasbro accomplished here. Instead of worrying about tooling a helmet that looks appropriately sized for the human portrait, Hasbro designed an interchangeable helmeted head sculpt. The result is marvelous. There is no issue with oversized or undersized parts here, a huge benefit of interchangeable features. The two Westar-34 blaster pistols are all-new weapons here, and they fit beautifully into both of the figure’s hands. The removable JT-12 jetpack is new too but designed not unlike the jetpack from Boba Fett (VC186) figure. It fits into the back of the figure with a half-moon friction plug and stays in place reasonably well while posing the action figure. Lastly, Hasbro included flame effects that ply into the exhaust valves that hang toward the bottom of the jetpack. They, too, stay in place well and assist you with making Jango Fett fly. They’ve also included a fireball that attaches to the left gauntlet to recreate the moment in Attack Of The Clones when Jango Fett used fire to repel Mace Windu. If we had to complain, we would say the left gauntlet is oversized. Oh, and the shoulder armor is inaccurate for Jango.

We have to draw your attention to the fact that Hasbro designed an entirely new belt/holster combination piece, so for the first time, we have a Jango Fett action figure in 3.75-inch scale that Hasbro “leather” straps around the thighs instead of either excluding them or painting them on like they did for the 2011 figure. While we do get a sampling of some excellent stuff here, there is also quite a bit missing. We understand that this version of Jango Fett focuses on the character’s moments on Geonosis. Jango had a different gear set than the character on Kamino. But this is a Deluxe figure, and it should come with everything from the movie to give it value, a “deluxe” presence in the line, and numerous accessories to feel like this should cost more than a basic carded figure for about $16.99. We would have liked to see Hasbro include a headset to fly the Slave I. We would have also wanted to see the Z-6 Mitronomon alternate jetpack Jango Fett used on Coruscant and Kamino and the poncho used on Kamino. And it would have been lovely if Hasbro had included alternate gauntlets with jagged blades that helped Jango grip the side of the landing platform during the battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Hasbro can also take Jango Fett further. They could make a new version with the character wearing the solid linen shirt and purple jumpsuit pants while hiding the armor in the closet. There are so many options here. However, until Hasbro takes this character further, we’ll have this in the meantime.
