Once known by the name Caleb Dume, Kanan Jarrus survived the Emperor's purge, going underground for years. Leading up to the Galactic Civil War, he was a leader among the Ghost crew.

It’s difficult to process that Kanan Jarrus only makes our second action figure from The Vintage Collection based on Star Wars: Rebels. The first, of course, is Grand Admiral Thrawn, one of the finest action figures Hasbro produced in years. They appear to be keeping up with that trend with Kanan Jarrus, which, in our opinion, quickly classifies as a perfect ten in the lineup. It’s no secret that Hasbro has come far in their action figure making, and the only unfortunate aspect is that they focus on the Disney Star Wars garbage when most of us want to see George Lucas-era characters updated in this magnificent glory. That said, Kanan Jarrus is a worthy inclusion into the line as well, and while we have no interest in Star Wars: Rebels at all, we can’t deny how excellently the action figure turned out and how you’ll want it to become part of your action figure collection. The all-new figure combines Hasbro’s latest action figure technology with an incredibly realistic likeness and a stunning paint job.

However, the figure also has an immaculate articulation system and can achieve almost any pose you desire. The figure has an incredible range of movement in the arms, legs, head, and torso. As a bonus, Hasbro included three accessories here: a hilt, a lightsaber, and a skiff guard blaster. The incredible movement of the action figure’s body makes the interaction of the accessories all the more special. Kanan’s right-hand includes a curled trigger finger, while the left hand has more of a cupped pose to accommodate both lightsaber accessories. Whether running or in an action-oriented state, Kanan Jarrus looks like the character jumped out of the small screen and morphed into a live-action version right before your eyes, almost like the opening themes of Wonder Woman’s first and second seasons. Again, whether you’re a fan of Star Wars: Rebels or not, you’ll have some difficulty passing on this action figure because it’s one of Hasbro’s most vigorous efforts in The Vintage Collection to date. We’re not exaggerating.

Hasbro did a fantastic job creating a realistic interpretation of Kanan Jarrus for the 3.75-inch super-articulated action figure line. For too many years, they kept throwing the animated 5POA figure our way to the point of nauseousness. It feels lovely to break free from that awful cycle, have something new and fresh, and so many steps above and beyond what we’ve received to date. That brings us to the packaging. Why did Hasbro opt for an animated character photo for the packaging? We thought they composited character card art for realistic interpretations of the animated characters. But they seem to be making an exception with characters from Star Wars: Rebels. Feelings are mixed and inconsistent, so we won’t make a big deal about it. However, the packaging is a massive part of The Vintage Collection experience, and we don’t want to discount its importance in any way. From the excellent likeness to the gorgeous paint operations, Kanan Jarrus brings some beauty to an often frustrating collector-focused toy line.
