Set at the end of the High Republic era, a former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront turn out to be far more sinister and personal than anticipated.

Imagine a Star Wars show so universally panned and non-memorable that we had to check the card art to remind ourselves what the character’s name was countless times. Imagine a character taken from a page in the Rian Johnson playbook: a sexless, frumpy, random technician with an exclusive tool. (We only need to find out if Osha (Verosha) pushed herself on an unwilling man somewhere within The Acolyte.) Amandla "one expression" Stenberg is like Rose Tico 2.0, but perhaps worse if you total the cringe-filled antics of the real-life person. Her racist and toxic words made her the ultimate cry bully. She’ll be the first to call you terrible names, but had she looked in a mirror instead of twerking in a diss track, perhaps her influence would be more significant. Disney constantly gets weighed down by loudmouths who tell you that you’re the problem instead of the snotty, spoiled, and privileged actress who is another PR nightmare for Disney. And you thought Rachel Zegler was insufferable. Guess again! Disney Star Wars has to turn a corner after this disaster. The franchise will never return to an acceptable place if they don’t learn from this. Perhaps that time has passed, too.

So, why are we focusing on an actress instead of talking about the action figure? That question should ironically answer your question. Every controversy was more notable than the actual show. The show pales in comparison to the drama. How sad is this? When a show and the actors in it make bigger headlines than the content, it’s a problem. And there were consequences because of it. The Acolyte is the worst-performing Star Wars entertainment ever produced. That means it scored worse than The Star Wars Holiday Special. Then the audience score went up a few points, likely reviewed-“bombed” in the positive direction to make things seem better. It brought up its measly score a few more points from its embarrassing low point. However, not even Kathleen Kennedy could bring this zombified, pathetic show back to life. Disney appropriately canceled it before we had to be tortured further with a second season. So, it makes one wonder why Hasbro is placing all their eggs in the basket by producing so many toys based on The Acolyte? Inquiring minds would like to know. Despite this, the figure is decent and has five accessories, including a removable vest, strapped holster, blaster pistol, droid tool, and backpack.

The paint operations look good here. But why is Hasbro producing so many toys from this series? In our opinion, it’s nothing more than doubling down. When Lucasfilm and related licensees refuse to accept what a colossal failure The Acolyte is, they continue to waste everyone’s time and money by producing toys that will go on clearance a few short weeks after they arrive on store shelves or make their way to Ollie’s as their first retail destination. We wish we didn’t have to add characters from The Acolyte into our The Vintage Collection reviews archive, especially when we don't have Sim Aloo. That’s how much we don’t want to be associated with what will go down in history as one of the worst things to ever come out of Star Wars. And it’s a shame because it’s evident that Hasbro produced a well-designed action figure here. But should you care? Probably not. Disney Star Wars has sunk to a new low, and how shameful is that to do to the biggest and best IP there ever was? Bye Felicia (Amandla)! We hope we never have to see you again in another Star Wars show. However, if you’re a collector looking to add a random technician to the backgrounds of your dioramas, there isn’t a better piece than this to do that.
