Events such as the Boonta Eve Classic Podrace attract beings from all reaches of the Outer Rim Territories. Drawn by the prospect of winning a fortune by gambling on the outcome of the race, even wanted criminals surface from the shadows. Following them are bounty hunters such as Aurra Sing, who keep a close eye on the proceedings.
Born on the mean streets of Nar Saddaa's vertical cities, Aurra Sing is a vicious humanoid alien, recognizable by her chalk-white skin and bloodletting fingers. Her potential in the Force was discovered when she was just an infant, and she was taken to Coruscant to begin her initiation into the Jedi way. But Aurra was a headstrong, aggressive student, and she lacked the control to fully master the force or bond with her master, the Dark Woman. Before she had even reached Padawan ranking, Aurra was kidnapped by star pirates, who turned the impressionable young alien against the Order forever, feeding her lies about the Jedi's disloyalty to her.
Aurra was raised among the pirates, learning deadly fighting and hunting skills, and became an independent bounty huntress specializing in Jedi capture. Viewing Jedi hunts as her vengeance for her believed childhood betrayal, she collected the lightsabers of her fallen foes as grim trophies, her cold, remorseless technique dangerously effective. With her loyalties determined by her own vendettas and the highest bidder, Aurra Sing found easy employ in the chaos of the Clone Wars.
Well everyone, Sideshow Collectibles has done it again! They have crafted a stunning and masterful Premium Format figure that may just be the best one yet. Of course when a new product like this gets released, it tends to get the most attention because of its novelty. But we truly believe that Sideshow Collectibles has gotten through their arduous learning curve of getting these figures right now and the Aurra Sing (Bounty Hunter) Premium Format is a sign that they known how to perfect these figures with the first try. Aurra Sing (Bounty Hunter) is likely the best in the line. She is weighty as she is clearly made of a higher quality polystone than we have seen on previous figures. Also, her base (like many others) is extremely scene specific to the point that it was nearly ripped right out of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. She is the definition of "mixed media" as she has a nice selection of metal, polyester and leather and it brings the piece to life in ways that words just won't explain. And the expert sculptors at Sideshow Collectibles have really done a thorough job at capturing her features and her portrait is one of their finest efforts to date. We bet you'll be impressed with this figure and it will be the definitive collectibles for any Aurra Sing fan. The Premium Format line is of course expensive, but we can honestly say that Aurra Sing (Bounty Hunter) is worth her $300 price tag because this is a figure that is perfect in every attention to detail. The are no inconsistencies to be found and the coloring from her outfit to her hair is flawless in every way possible. And we couldn't be more thrilled to have this figure in our collections.
Aurra Sing must be a "big girl" in the film. She is taller than most of the other female Premium Format figures including Darth Talon and especially Slave Leia. As mentioned earlier, she is heavy and weighty which is a lovely feature of a well-made Premium Format figure and she has thick and curvy figure while still remaining extremely athletic. (It makes the price tag much easier to swallow when these types of figures have some mass to them.) Her red/orange skin tight body suit hugs every beautiful curve of her body and we couldn't help being awestruck looking at her backside. She has one nice rear end. We don't mean to draw attention there, but there is just no denying how nice it is. Her "full figure" doesn't stop there as she has a curvy midsection and she has extremely athletic arms that complement her feminine form just beautifully. Her bald head is enhanced by her large and beautifully sculpted ponytail (which is a separate piece that attaches to the top of her head and has some free hanging braids made from a softer material that you can bend). And she has a thin real-metal antenna that also fits into a very tiny delicately drilled hole on the front left side of her head. Her portrait is simply and beautifully painted and her pale white face is accented with gray details that give her a beautifully creepy countenance. Her disconcerting and aloof demeanor confuses you because you're not sure if she is approachable or ready to do you in and steal your lightsaber. We love that attitude she exudes. Her right hand is removable and holds a long rifle which is as long as Aurra Sing and the detail on it is stunning. And she has a lot of gadgets that you'll manually need to place in pockets and such and it really makes this Premium Format figure a lot more interactive than most released to date.
The base she stands on is spectacular. It is a cross-section of the railing she was standing behind at the Boonta Eve Classic in Mos Espa on Tatooine. We're not entirely thrilled with "chopped" diorama backgrounds, but it does work well for Aurra Sing. Her boots have a plug which inserts into the base and keeps her standing very tightly in place on this base. The stock of the rifle also sits at the bottom of the base as well as a double pouch on the strap of the rifle. This is realism at its best and we can conclusively tell you that another Aurra Sing collectible will not be needed in the high-end market. This is the alpha and omega of Aurra Sing collectibles. For the exclusive collector, you will be treated to a briefcase of lightsaber hilts. There are four spots beveled out and all are separate pieces that fit into each of their own grooves. The case stays shut via a magnet. It is a clever little exclusive piece and while we don't know much about its significance, it must have a great EU background story that we'll need to get caught up on now. (We have some reading to do.) Aurra Sing is surprisingly one of the best things Sideshow Collectibles has ever done. The word "best" can lose its meaning when it gets overused, but you should interpret it to mean that this figure is indeed one of the greatest things Sideshow Collectibles has released. For a character with no speaking lines in the film that she appeared, it's pretty impressive that she has a following as strong as this and get made into a line that has very few spots to become a candidate. But now we know know why she not only became a candidate but a winner. Aurra Sing is a must-have Premium Format figure. Don't let her pass you by!
