Quinlan Vos hunts for an escaped prisoner. The rebellious Jedi teams up with Obi-Wan Kenobi to search for Ziro the Hutt, who has escaped from prison with the help of Cad Bane. Vos and Kenobi must get over their differences and work together if they hope to capture Ziro and Bane – and avoid an untimely end.
Quinlan Vos can be considered the renegade or vagabond of the Jedi Order. He is his own person and although he holds allegiance to the Jedi, his progressive ways of handling issues typically has kept him an outsider within the group of his peers. Because of these characteristics, Vos has become a very popular Star Wars character within the Expanded Universe. In fact, many who are fans of the films have discovered a newfound interest in Quinlan Vos. And besides a small cameo appearance in Episode I, his name was also mentioned in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Just how Obi-Wan Kenobi briefly mentioned the Clone Wars in his discussion with Luke Skywalker in Episode IV, the same interest was piqued with Quinlan Vos when Obi-Wan Kenobi uttered his name in the Jedi Temple in Episode III. In the toy line, collectors have been graced with two action figure interpretations of him in the Comic Packs series. But believe it or not, the best one to date is the one that has been released in the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” line look of The Clone Wars collection. Hasbro has really become aggressive in what they are including in the action figures they claim are part of a "kids" line. And because we consider ourselves hardcore collectors, we don’t understand why premium articulation is being included in the animated figures that are clearly superseding figures in the realistic line.
But that is a path we don’t want to go down for this review. Quinlan Vos is quite an impressive action figure. He is loaded with high quality articulation including ball-jointed hips. And then he has all the other “necessary” articulation that we have come to expect from Hasbro. All of his parts are in proportion with one another and the coloring is spot on to what we viewed in the Season 3 episode Hunt For Ziro. Not only is his silhouette exact, his likeness is perfect as well and looks like a spitting image of the animated character. He has his signature tattoos and he comes armed with his green lightsaber. Quinlan Vos is known for his unruly locks of hair and they have all been thoroughly imitated here for this stunning action figure. This action figure is full of personality, from the flow of his hair to the sneer on his face. And speaking of his face, the yellow band that runs horizontally across the center of his face is evenly placed. His legs and arms are thin yet athletic and work well as you balance them to place him in some cool action stances. Quinlan Vos also comes with his “hover board” that is beautifully designed (even though we think it is a pretty silly accessory) and functional. He does look pretty neat on it and thanks to incredible articulation, he looks quite natural on it.
Quinlan Vos may be the best action figure in this wave of The Clone Wars line. And to be quite frank, The Clone Wars line is becoming so good we are already keeping a critical eye on each and every product Hasbro releases under this banner. Hasbro certainly knows how to keep us spoiled. We are so thankful that they are giving non-clone trooper action figures the works as far as great sculpting and articulation is concerned. Interestingly, the clone troopers have been getting the shaft as of late. (Maybe Hasbro is getting sick and tired of clone troopers too.) And it’s also quite refreshing to see such a stunning amount of detail included in the faces of the figures (especially Quinlan Vos). They seem to be rivaling the level of detail included in the realistic line (and in some cases exceed them as we’ve mentioned earlier). But Quinlan Vos is another fine example of how awesome The Clone Wars line is. It seems that a whole new level of appreciation is being given to the line by adult collectors. And if Hasbro keeps up the great work, we think that there is a lot to look forward to as the line progresses. It’s great that Hasbro was able to get out a Season 3 character so soon. Usually Hasbro is only able to get the previous season out in the current line. It seems that they are catching up.
