The strength of the Galactic Republic begins to crumble as the weakened systems of the galaxy merge their resources, coerced into uni0n with the corporate sectors. Rising from the rubble of the former Republic, a new strength appears - the Confederacy of Independent Systems. A droid army of innumerable size is formed, and from within its ranks emerges General Grievous.

A brilliant and cold strategist, General Grievous is not burdened with compassion or conscience. His unaffected demeanor and brutal military campaigns build his reputation among the frightened peoples of the Republic, and soon the threat of his wrath becomes more terrifying than those posed by Count Dooku himself. His body is a deadly weapon forged by developers of the Confederacy, its living matter encased within a precision-engineered artificial body. Inside the mechanical exterior beats the heart of a remorseless killer. Grievous hunted Jedi for sport and kept his victims' lightsabers within his cloak as trophies. His unorthodox fighting form and mechanical enhancements gave him an edge in close-quarter combat.

The Sideshow Collectibles General Grievous 1:1 Life-Size Bust was a shocker when it was officially announced. Many collectors wondered how Sideshow Collectibles could be able to render a General Grievous collectible in this scale to be believable and stunning. Well, we should have known better. With the magnificent work of art that was the Premium Format Figure version of General Grievous, Sideshow put themselves in a precarious position by perhaps biting off more than they could chew. But the final results were amazing. It seems that the same level of concentration was put into the 1:1 Life-Size Bust of General Grievous and we personally couldn’t be more pleased with the final product. With a hybrid of robotic and organic parts, Grievous would task any licensee to deliver such an authentic representation of him in this size scale. But Sideshow effortlessly accomplished it. The first impressions showcasing this magnificent collectible were lauded by many, and it’s a collectible that will sustain the test of time. This Life-Size Bust is nothing but extraordinary to say the very least, and every detail of the Separatist general is captured in stunning authenticity and exactness.

For the organic parts of General Grievous, Sideshow included realistic and beautiful marbling in the sections of him that look like real bone. What’s more, these “bones” are etched with real nooks and grooves to create a realistic texture and surface. This is sculpting at its finest, and you need to see this Life-Size Bust in person to fully appreciate all of its detail. To be quite honest, the marbling is probably the most impressive part of this bust. Those of you who have been lucky enough to add the Premium Format General Grievous to your collections know just how awesome this particular attention to detail is. Sideshow has been able to make it even more authentic right here on this larger scale collectible. Obviously, a larger size collectible means the details have to be perfect and Sideshow ensured this. Another incredible recreation on this bust is General Grievous’ eyes. They have been replicated perfectly and coated with a "wet" finish in the red areas around the yellow cat-like eyeballs, and it’s stunning how much they bring the piece to life. The vocoder and other details of the mouth are painted excellently, and the silhouette of the head is clean and symmetrical.

We love how Sideshow Collectibles approached both the mechanic and organic aspects of General Grievous. The organic parts of Grievous are made in different materials than the metal parts. The "larynx" is clear and reddish-orange and looks lifelike. And the head is attached to a "metal" frame which is accented with real tubing and wire coils. These parts look like real-world car parts but look authentic on Grievous! Extra details like this add that special touch and character that might not have been there otherwise. There obviously has been significantly more work and attention to detail put into Grievous when compared to their Yoda Life-Size Bust. It may not have the “wow” of the Darth Maul Life-Size Bust, but General Grievous still is an incredible piece nonetheless. They managed to include both main and background characters seamlessly into the line. We can say that this bust will exceed collector expectations and you will be hard-pressed to find complaints with any aspect of it. General Grievous is very hearty and substantial because it is made from a heavyweight polystone material. The Emperor Palpatine Life-Size Bust pales in comparison to General Grievous (because of how light it was). This is certainly not the case with General Grievous.
