Commander Fox (The Clone Wars) - Mini Busts

Commander Fox was the leader of an elite clone trooper squadron known as the Coruscant Guard. One of the more notable missions of Fox and his men was the rescue of Senator Padmé Amidala from Ziro the Hutt's Palace on Coruscant. Fox wore the distinctive crimson color of the Coruscant Guard on his armor with a pattern variation of the Galactic Senate Emblem. In addition to two blaster pistols, Fox was also armed with a DC-15 blaster rifle.

Commander Fox has a reputation for being exclusive. If you have been collecting Star Wars for a long time, history always repeats itself and you should be reaffirmed time and again that there are just some characters that will consistently be developed as exclusives. Blackhole Stormtrooper, Clone Trooper Lieutenant and now Commander Fox are all synonymous with exclusivity. The first exclusive Commander Fox collectible was released as a TARGET exclusive during The Clone Wars/The Legacy Collection line launch as 2008's TCW Commander Fox exclusive basic figure. This version of Commander Fox was a pretty decent interpretation of the character that appeared in The Clone Wars film, but is lacked in some areas like the head sculpt for instance and some sloppy paint operations with the burgundy color flashes on his armor. Gentle Giant Ltd.. steps up to the plate and males a stunning version of Commander Fox (The Clone Wars) in their hugely successful Mini Busts line and we feel that to date it’s the best collectible of him money can buy.

Released as a Premier Guild Member exclusive, it was one of a couple choices for the free gift program the plan offers. It was released a bit late and started arriving at collectors’ homes in February of 2011. The Mini Bust is beautifully painted. He lacks any carbon-scoring, but thankfully Gentle Giant made it a point to add a nice even frequency of battle-damage marking in his armor. You’ll see his deep blood colors interrupted with scratches and marks from the various battles he fought. The emblem of the Galactic Senate is immortalized quite large on his chest armor and is beautifully complemented by the markings on his arms. And of course the crimson red details on his helmet pull it all together. Commander Fox also has a distinctive black antenna unlike most of the other clone troopers seen in the television show and that has also been replicated perfectly here as well. He has two DC-17 blaster pistols at the ready and is aiming a very long DC-15 blaster rifle. The head sculpt is flawless and the proportions of his body couldn’t be better.

Commander Fox is a member of the famed Coruscant Guard and his official designation is CC-1010. His armor doesn’t vary too differently from Captain Rex and even Hasbro has used similar parts to make both action figures. Commander Fox has made only a few rare appearances in The Clone Wars television show and this is quite a shame given his popularity an his propensity for being developed into exclusives. Perhaps its because of his rarity in the television show that he’s become rare in the collectible world too. If you’re not a PGM then you’ve likely missed out on this excellent Mini Bust. We have to admit that Gentle Giant Ltd.. is doing more than a fine job on the collectibles they bring inspired from The Clone Wars. And there is something about the animated takes on these Mini Busts that just work better. The Captain Rex Mini Bust was a great addition to the line too, but that was based on a realistic interpretation of him, similarly what Sideshow Collectibles did with their Captain Rex [CC-7567] (501st Legion: Torrent Company) 12 Inch Figure. We love realistic takes, but there is truly something special about the animated look of the Commander Fox (The Clone Wars) Mini Bust. Secure him if you can.
