The dark events of younng Boba Fett's life shape his destiny as a notorious bounty hunter. As a boy, he stands in awe of his father Jango Fett. When Boba is suddenly left alone in the world, he uses his grief and anger to become a ruthless and powerful hunter feared by anyone who crosses his path.

The Legacy Of The Dark Side Toys R Us exclusive two-packs were overall a big waste of time for collectors. Intended to be a replacement for the fizzled out Evolutions line, Hasbro may have also been trying to get out core characters in one fell swoop. The Legacy Of The Dark Side line may have not been a colossal failure. The product eventually disappeared form shelves, but it certainly wasn’t a line collectors were willing to embrace. While some included the best possible versions of available action figures, one especially left a lot to be desired. The Boba Fett (Orphan To Bounty Hunter) set may just be the biggest disappointment of the three that were released. It was the absolute perfect opportunity for Hasbro to include an updated version of young Boba Fett with super-articulation, but they decided to choose the 2002 SW Boba Fett (Kamino Escape) ('02 #07) sculpt. You may be interested to know however that they used the slightly revised version from 2009’s LC Kamino Conflict Battle Packs.

Boba Fett (Bounty Hunter) is a straight repack of the collector favorite 2004 VOTC Boba Fett figure. We are unable to note any differences between the two figures other than this 2010 release’s plastic looking a little newer and brighter. The figure still comes with the removable jetpack and its signature blaster rifle and it still remains one of the best Episode VI versions of Boba Fett we have ever received. It is great to get another chance at this awesome version of Boba Fett. But we don’t think packaging him with a 2002 young Boba Fett and jacking up the price to $17.99 is going to make anyone happy. The figure has aged beautifully over the years and it’s quite reassuring that Hasbro has for the last decade or more provided collectors with action figures that will stand the test of time. The VOTC Boba Fett made our jaws drop in 2004, 2007 and again in 2010. (Editor’s Note: This version of Boba Fett is included in the Revenge Of The Jedi chase figures in The Vintage Collection at retail as well as 2011’s TVC Revenge Of The Jedi [Death Star II] SDCC exclusive.)

With all things considered, the Legacy Of The Dark Side exclusives may have been best left on the ”concept” cutting room floor. They really serve no purpose for kids or collectors. Between the inflated prices and the incessant repackaging of figures we have many times over already, there is little room left in our collections for the same figures over and over again anymore. And the “Shadow Of The Dark Side” packaging does little to nothing at all to help tantalize the senses to make even the most overzealous collectors fall for the bait. The Boba Fett (Orphan To Bounty Hunter) is absolutely the weakest set of all three. There is no reason at all why we should be paying $9.00 for a 2002 action figure that is half the size of the rest, especially when all of the accessories but for two have been cut out of the set. But despite our opinions, you can’t find them any more at Toys R Us and they weren’t put on sale as far as we could tell. This tells us some of you were interested in them.
