While Mouse plants explosive charges to destroy the facility, Basso discovers that captured civilians are being used as slaves by the Imperials, and convinces the Rebels to free them.
How many of us have fantasized about seeing every species from the Star Wars universe in stormtrooper disguise? And what the heck is our obsession as collectors with figures in various disguises? Hasbro know that we throw our pennies towards action figures of this nature, so they took it upon themselves to develop and awesome Comic Packs set that includes both Mouse and Basso in the obligatory stormtrooper disguises. The Star Wars: Empire: The Wrong Side Of The War must have had a large impact on the collecting community because Hasbro spent a lot of energy bringing us multiple figures from this short lived comic series. Comprised of issues #36 through #40, it really didn’t develop the characters as much as other comics had, but something still resonated with its readers and remains a popular staple comic series even today. Hasbro’s take on this comic bring us a duo of Rebels. Mouse (In Disguise) and Basso (In Disguise) are the center of this Comic Packs and while it was a relatively easy set to manufacture, it will likely be one of the most likeable. With a running change where Basso (In Disguise) comes without his pauldron, collectors will be going nuts securing this Comic Packs set for certain!
Both Mouse (In Disguise) and Basso (In Disguise) has been made from 2007’s TAC Imperial Stormtrooper (30 20) figure. Obviously new head sculpts have been created and Basso also comes with a sandtrooper squad leader’s orange pauldron. As a result of being designed from the Imperial Stormtrooper figure, you’ll quickly note that both are super-articulated and come with a wealth of usable articulation. The legs were slightly retooled first on 2006’s TSC Sandtrooper (SAGA 037) figure and these are the same legs brought forward to the Imperial Stormtrooper. This can be proven by the revised 2005 date stamp on the action figure. It’s still not a perfect design for a stormtrooper action figure. Stormtroopers need ball-jointed hips and until that is commonplace in the toy line, there are going to be a lot of them standing at attention instead of in action in peoples’ collections. The head sculpts on both Mouse and Basso are excellent and they look exactly like their comic counterparts. As an added bonus, Hasbro gave Mouse bare Duros hands. It’s a simple addition, but it makes this “stormtrooper” really stand out! Again, there should be no new expectations for these figures. You should already know what you’re getting.
Basso has a very interesting tattooed pattern running around the circumference of his head in the comics. And Hasbro brought this to the 3.75” scaled interpretation of him flawlessly. To more easily tell them apart from each other when the helmets are on, Basso has been given the squad leader’s pauldron as previously mentioned. Mouse and Basso are essentially carbon copies of each other and aside from the few but important differences they don’t share, you shouldn’t expect them to be more diverse than they are. One interesting point you may want to note. Hasbro used the stormtrooper helmet from the Han Solo figure from 2007’s TAC Chewbacca/Han Solo (No. 04) Comic Packs set. This is unique from the helmet from the 2007 TAC Imperial Stormtrooper (30 20) figure because the brim of the helmet doesn’t touch the lenses of the visor in the “Han Solo version” where it does on the 2007 TAC Imperial Stormtrooper (30 20) basic figure. We think stormtrooper helmets from Hasbro look entirely better when the lenses and brim are not touching each other. Otherwise the “face” of the helmet looks like a “bizarre” stormtrooper instead. Mouse and Basso are musts for your collection. And they could almost pass for “real” stormtroopers.
