Clone troopers battle the droid army on the planets throughout the galaxy. Jedi generals such as Obi-Wan Kenobi lead sector armies, working closely with clone commanders to defeat the Separatist threat to the Republic. The ARC (Advanced Recon Commando) troopers are one of the elite units created for special missions, and specialized weapons and gear are developed to meet the combat needs of the troopers.

Statistically, Kmart has been the retailer to get the worst exclusives. There have been a few exceptions to this rule like the Jedi Temple Assault Battle Packs and the Mos Eisley Cantina Screen Scenes (with Blue Snaggletooth). But usually Star Wars collectors could in general forgo the struggling retail establishment and spend their pennies elsewhere on more impressive Star Wars collectibles. The Legacy Collection Clone Trooper Squad exclusive multipack is a set that fits somewhere in between the range of bad to good. Bad because collectors likely have the figures contained within it multiple times already and good because the included figures are of a high quality. Although it gives no credit to it anywhere on the packaging, this set is inspired by Tartakovsky’s Clone Wars and picks characters from across both Volume 1 and Volume 2 to comprise a squadron of clones that look fantastic together. Oh, and you get an exclusive collectors’ card. That should be reason enough to pick this set up, right?

In the set you’ll get an ARC Trooper Commander, Clone Trooper [with Cip-Quad], Clone SCUBA Trooper and Obi-Wan Kenobi [in clone trooper gear]. All figures are super-articulated with premium articulation and as you probably already know, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes with the most amazing ball-jointed hips. (He can literally attain any pose you wish.) ARC Trooper Commander is a straight repack of the figure from 2008’s TAC Obi-Wan Kenobi/ARC Trooper Commander (1 of 6) Order 66 set, Clone Trooper is a repack of 2008’s TLC Clone Trooper (BD 16) figure, Clone SCUBA Trooper is a repack of 2008’s TLC Clone SCUBA Trooper (BD 10) figure and Obi-Wan Kenobi is a repack of 2008’s TLC Obi-Wan Kenobi (BD 9) figure. All figures are painted nearly exactly to their original releases with little to no paint variances at all. Dividing the figures in half in the packaging is an exclusive collectors’ card that portrays a collage of all four characters in realistic style in battle during the Clone Wars. It’s a nifty set and perfect for someone who loves clones and doesn’t have them singly.

The set didn’t perform that well at retail and most were able to find it for pennies on the dollar. We wonder when Hasbro solicits these exclusives to big box stores if they come clean to let them know that sets like this are full of repackaged figures and nothing new is included at all. We hardly consider the collectors’ card a must-have item, but whether you want it or not, it hardly constitutes as a reason to buy this set. But for those that love Tartakovky’s Clone Wars, this set is definitely cool. It’s a compact set, the figures aren’t painted sloppily – their lines are clean and tight – and come with all of their original accessories, something that Hasbro seems to miss on a lot of repackaged figures as of late. But again, is it something that you must acquire for your collection? There are a lot of many other exclusives in the Legacy Collection that your hard earned dollars should go to instead. But if you do happen to come across this set at a bargain price, don’t hesitate to pick it up. You can never have enough clones, right?
