In the waning days of the Republic, the ranks of the Jedi Order were commanded by a High Council of Jedi Masters who convened in a towering temple on Coruscant. Twelve Jedi sat in a circle to contemplate matters of the Force, and dispatch Knights to scattered crises across the galaxy.

One such Jedi Master was Plo Koon, an imposing alien whose face was concealed behind a forked facemask. His well-muscled humanoid form filled out the traditional Jedi robes. Koon was present on the Council when Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn presented Anakin Skywalker as a prospective Jedi candidate. He also served the Council a decade later when the Jedi faced one of their greatest conflicts: the Clone Wars. Plo Koon was present at the first battle site of the Clone Wars, fighting against Geonosians and battle droid forces in the cauldron of the Geonosian execution arena. Koon served valiantly as a general in the war on many battlefronts in the years that followed.

During the Outer Rim Sieges, Plo Koon was stationed on Cato Neimoidia, flying scouting missions over the bridge cities of the conquered world. It was then that Order 66 was enacted, branding every Jedi in the galaxy as an enemy of the Republic.

Plo Koon's clone wingmen carried out the order, communicated to them directly from Chancellor Palpatine. Aboard ARC-170 starfighters, the clone commander pilot opened fire. Plo Koon's starfighter spun out of control and crashed into the Neimoidian city below.

Sideshow Collectibles has found new and invigorating ways to make their 1:6 Scale Figure line new and exciting with each release. They rely heavily on creating exclusive versions of the highly sought after 12” figures to create demand that probably wouldn’t exist normally were it not for them. With the release of Plo Koon (Jedi Master) 1:6 Scale Figure, Sideshow Collectibles nods their heads toward concept art and included a double lightsaber gauntlet as the exclusive accessory for Master Koon, based on concept art for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Of Sith. Just like Mace Windu (Jedi Master), Plo Koon (Jedi Master) has been outfitted for all three Prequel trilogy film, plus the Expanded Universe (based on the just-mentioned exclusive accessory). There is something for everyone here. Plo Koon in 12” status has an interesting history. Back when Hasbro was producing 12” figures, Plo Koon was a Star Wars Fan Club exclusive that never saw widespread availability. Ultimately the item quickly sold out and commanded a premium on the aftermarket. Thankfully Sideshow Collectibles made Plo Koon one of their earliest priorities that not only satisfies demand, but supersedes it with an incredible likeness and awesome accessories. Plo Koon (Jedi Master) may be limiting in that the body utilizes Sideshow’s Art S. Buck body type, but they know how to doctor it up with an amazing portrait and beautiful soft-goods and detailed accessories.

It’s hard to pinpoint the exact film Plo Koon has been sourced to because he looks almost the same in the Prequel Trilogy. Save for his time at the Battle of Geonosis in Episode II (where he isn’t wearing a Jedi robe) or the Order 66 sequence in Episode III (when he is flying his Jedi starfighter), he really can only be seen sitting in his Jedi Council chair (wearing a robe) during the many scenes we see all 12 members interacting with each other. Thankfully there are times when we do get some close-up shots in the films and it is from these scenes we can confirm that Sideshow Collectibles has knocked the 1:6 Scale Figure interpretation of Plo Koon out of the park with an incredible portrait, stunning clothing and awesome accessories. Unlike Hasbro, Sideshow Collectibles actually listened to collectors when we pleaded with them to fix the incorrectly colored lightsaber from green to blue as they had Plo Koon’s lightsaber blade as green. (They corrected the single lightsaber, but the double-bladed gauntlet remained green.) The texture of his tunic and pants (and everything else for that matter) is just what we’ve come to love from Sideshow in the past and they fit like a glove revealing his athletic body type. It’s excellence from top to bottom. Even Plo Koon’s coloring is spot on and there are many layers of coloring to give it a realistic texture (in addition to the sculpted texture).

The portrait of Plo Koon (Jedi Master) is especially enthralling. His true identity is hidden by his breathing mask (so he doesn’t get poisoned by oxygen) but what you can see on his face and the rest of his head is designed with the most intricate of detail and the paint job that brings it to life is just incredibly stunning. Sideshow Collectibles doesn’t hold back when creating mimicries of our favorite Star Wars characters in a reduced scale. They are so well thought out and designed it’s hard to just consider them 1:6 Scale Figures as it seems there should be more substance with which to identify them. Sideshow is also keeping some uniromity in their respective 1:6 Scale Figure sub-collections. For example, you’ll find the same accessories repeated over like rebreathers, Jedi communicators and Jedi holoprojectors. Even these tiny accessories are wonderfully detailed. And more impressive than the accessories are the multi layered outfits. The fabrics used are rich and the tailoring hugs the Art S. Buck body form so the outfit doesn’t look baggy in the least. These are extremely important details when developing art in this format. And when Sideshow nails something, they really nail it. There is typically no mediocrity in their work. An excellent 1:6 Scale Figure of there nearly takes your breath away or you’re immediately inclined to pass on it. But don’t pass on Plo Koon (Jedi Master) because it is another highlight in their Order Of The Jedi line.
