Kit Fisto was part of the Jedi taskforce assembled to rescue captives from the Separatist stronghold on Geonosis. The Master Nautolan fought well against the Geonosian and battle droid forces, being one of the few Jedi to survive the extended melee within the carved walls of the execution arena.

Depending upon your point of view, it probably could be said that Kit Fisto has seemingly risen to A-list Star Wars character status from his previous B-list or C-list status thanks to his appearances in The Clone Wars. This striking Jedi is a cult favorite amongst many Star Wars fans and it was great to learn about him on an entirely different level in The Clone Wars television. He didn’t speak in the films, and you really get to learn a great deal from characters when you actually hear them communicate. The various Star Wars licensees also appear to be enamored of this Nautolan as well since he makes frequent appearances in Hasbro’s, Sideshow Collectibles and Gentle Giant Ltd.’s various lines. He’s a mainstay, but always looks unique. Despite Kit Fisto’s frequent collectible releases, he always seems to look different every time. But a lot of that has to do with how different masks were used in Episode II and Episode III. It’s thrown a little bit of confusion into the mix. And as a result, things don’t get boring.

Gentle Giant Ltd. ensured that Kit Fisto would see release almost immediately in their very popular Maquettes line. And as you can confidently expect, they did a relatively great job in translating him from the television show into polystone collectible. Based on his appearance in The Clone Wars episode entitled Lair Of Grievous from Season 1, Kit Fisto comes wielding both his own lightsaber as well as the fallen Padawan Nahdar Vebb’s lightsaber. The concept of this piece is excellent, but the Maquette has one issue we find terribly disappointing. The prototype shown on the box and the photos released to promote the product show Kit Fisto holding his lightsaber higher and further away from his face. That is not how the final piece came out. The lightsaber almost leans against his head and is much too close to his face. In fact, the lightsaber blocks his face when you view this piece on display on a shelf. We’re disconcerted with this and we wish issues like this would get caught at the QC level.

That being said, everything else about the Kit Fisto Maquette is pretty much stunning. They’ve posed Kit Fisto in an action stance where he looks like he’s walking right off of the base. His hands were obviously sculpted with the intention of displaying the lightsabers in a parallel fashion, but our sample (as well as other samples we have seen) don’t have the hilts sculpted on the same plane so the lightsaber blades are going in different directions. Kit Fisto’s head sculpt is beautiful and the paint job is quite impressive. His skin is bright light green (just like it appears in The Clone Wars television show) and includes the darker green leopard pattern on his tendrils. His outfit is pretty straightforward and once again the team at Gentle Giant Ltd. aced its creation just perfectly. This Maquettes is one we wanted to be completely satisfied with, but we feel it has fallen short a little bit by the lightsaber issue. If you’re OK with this, then there is still a lot to enjoy here.
