Newer (And Hot) Star Wars Stuff Hitting Kmart

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2011 at 07:08 PM ET |

Kmart is in the midst of their product resets for the Fall season as well. And we're finding new product left and right. The Kmart exclusive B-wing Fighter remains elusive for us, but we did find wave 5 and wave 6 of The Vintage Collection and we also found plenty of the hard-to-find Clone Commander Colt wave as well. Kmart may just become your retailer of choice!

Posted by Paul | July 31, 2011 at 07:03 PM ET |

Also of note, Saga Legends and The Clone Wars figures are on sale for $6.99 each. While not too much has come in the form of basic figures yet, more are definitely on the way. And as you might imagine, no sale price for The Vintage Collection! And you already know about all the store reports from our site and others' sites. But even more new stuff could be showing up this week!

Lumat Has Been Confirmed For The Vintage Collection In 2012!

Posted by Paul | July 27, 2011 at 10:02 AM ET |

Because the latest Hasbro Q&A came during the influx of a very crazy and hectic Comic Con this year, we wanted to pull back your attention to a very important announcement that Hasbro let slip in our Q&A session. They have confirmed for us that Lumat is on tap for 2012. While we hope it's the "now unnamed" tan Ewok from the Kenner basic figure line, it may be the "true" Lumat who looks nearly identical to Graak (as was released in the 30 (77-07) line. (That Graak figure is actually Lumat, but we don't want to get into a debate here about it.) But at any rate, we will be getting a The Vintage Collection Lumat figure which is great news that's very long overdue! And it's also the reason we think we will be getting the light tan Ewok. We will try to get clarification from Hasbro to be sure.

Your Comments Have Not Ceased All Day!

Posted by Paul | July 26, 2011 at 10:49 PM ET |

Never have we seen in years a situation like the Revenge Of The Jedi Death Star Comic Con exclusive nightmare elicit so much rage and passion in collectors. Stay tuned tomorrow as we bring you additional thoughts and feelings from more of our beloved readers. It's certainly been a brutal day. We don't know what the future holds for collectors to get these into their collections, but there is no doubt that it couldn't of been handled in a worse fashion than it was today; from the much too small edition size (whatever that was) to the inability of HasbroToyShop.com to handle all of us scrambling for this item at once. Be sure to check back with us. By the way, in case you haven't heard this either, the Salacious Crumb and Mouse Droid have their own unique VC numbers (66 and 67). So if you want a complete and uninterrupted carded collection, well you'll need these figures too!

UPDATE: HasbroToyShop.com responds to Kevin's email! Click through for their response!

If you haven't heard, the HasbroToyShop sale of the Revenge Of The Jedi Death Star was an utter and complete debacle! Emails are pouring in from readers, many of which we cannot reprint due to the "hateful" tones and profanity, but Hasbro has really screwed over a plethora of collectors. Click through to see one letter we can reprint for you by JTA reader Kevin, who wrote to HasbroToyShop.com customer service.

Hasbro, Hasbro - Where Did Our Love Go?

Posted by Paul | July 25, 2011 at 12:06 PM ET |

Between the lackluster 2011 Comic Con presentation and the overall lack of respect for all things Original Trilogy, we once again make our grievances known to Hasbro and even include a few of our readers' comments into the mix as well. Not only are there more questions than ever, it's quite possible that another generation of collectors will be lost thanks to The Vintage Collection's direction and lack of Original Trilogy focus. This one is a doozey folks. You'll need plenty of time to read it all. Click through for a complete rant.

Eagle-eyed collectors have probably already noticed the card back to the Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Outfit) (VC68) basic figure. Hasbro is definitely considering this one to be the modern replacement to the 1980 Rebel Soldier figure. What makes this even more special to collectors today is that Hasbro has corrected the card back photo for us so we have the correctly sourced character on the packaging for the first time ever. TVC really pulls at those heartstrings, doesn't it? Click through for a quick picture of this.

The State Of The Vintage Collection Address

Posted by Paul | July 16, 2011 at 07:36 PM ET |

The bad boys at BanthaSkull.com have beaten me to the punch with my own 2011 Hasbro "rant/heed our warnings with what's wrong with The Vintage Collection" recitative. But because they echo my sentiments so perfectly well, I would like to direct you to their excellent commentary so I can work on the next Q&A With JTA segment because I am honestly running out of time. The stuff is reaching retail a little bit better for my area, but doesn't have the prevalence it should. Click through because this is good stuff folks. The overall health of The Vintage Collection is in danger. And Hasbro needs to know what we're seeing and how to remedy the problem. And BanthaSkull.com, please get a copy of this to Hasbro at SDCC this year. Much obliged!

There are two important things to report at TARGET. Again these are our own personal finds in the Philly area. Recently Released TVC And TCW Arriving At TRU In High Numbers!

Posted by Paul | July 15, 2011 at 09:57 PM ET |

Toys R Us stores in the Philly area have been getting newer assortments of The Vintage Collection. You are already aware of our own wave 7 reports, but just today we found wave 5 and wave 6 hanging on the pegs for $9.99-$10.99. This of course isn't earth-shattering news, but we thought it was nice to see The Vintage Collection so "heavily" stocked after the inordinately long drought. If you are desperate for some new figure, why don't you add TRU to your toy runs? P.S. We also saw the Barriss Offee/Commander Colt The Clone Wars wave heavy there as well today.

Please Help 12 Inch Commander Gree - He Needs It!

Posted by Paul | July 14, 2011 at 08:51 AM ET |

While we couldn't be happier about the announcement and pre-order of the 12" Commander Gree figure, we have to take a few steps back and comment that Sideshow Collectibles has made a terrible mistake in the figure's coloring. Commander Gree is much too brown/tan below the waist and on the forearms and we really hope that Sideshow will have this fixed before it goes into mass production. If you're a Sideshow collector, we would encourage you to email customer service and ask them to have their production team look into this. It would be a shame if Commader Gree gets released as is. Posted by Paul | July 11, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

Wave 7 of The Vintage Collection is overall pretty swell but Research Droids Reviews finds that Barriss Offee (Jedi Padawan) is not as perfect as she could have been. A Big Thanks To Paul Harrison!

For the first time since JTA's launch over 7 years ago I was able to have a 2-week JTA-free vacation without worrying about or messing with site operations! Running a news site is a 24-7-365 job that most people take for granted that it's going to be there whenever they need to visit it. We at JTA love doing this, and Paul did a fantastic job running the show. Great job Paul!

Review: Bom Vimdin - TVC - VC53

Posted by Paul | July 10, 2011 at 12:10 AM ET |

Hasbro calls both VC15 and VC45 simply "Clone Trooper" but Bom Vimdin gets his own subtitle "Cantina Patron" we guess to tell him apart from the other Chalmun's Cantina Bom Vimdims!? But it's great to have him in our collections finally in 2011 after losing one Fans' Choice poll after another dating as far back as 2000. Research Droids Reviews determines that the wait was well worth it. See this gem of an action figure by reading our review today. The Vintage Collection Wave 7 Found At FYE In Your Local Mall!!!

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2011 at 04:05 PM ET |

We just received a report from JTA reader Derrick that his local FYE store in the mall has The Vintage Collection wave 7. We would have never thought of checking this retail chain, but it may be worth your time and energy. He found two Rebel Fleet Troopers, Barriss Offee and Han Solo (Bespin Gear)! Who would have thought!

UPDATE: We can confirm this report. We found 4 out of 6 of wave 7 INCLUDING the ARC Trooper Commander at our local store! This might be a good source for you! The figures are $9.99 each.

The Vintage Collection Wave 7 Found Consistently At Toys R Us!

Posted by Paul | July 09, 2011 at 01:53 PM ET |

For the many of you deperately trying to find wave 7 of The Vintage Collection, may we kindly direct you to your nearest Toys R Us stores? Although we have received multiple reports of this wave at TARGET (and we can even confirm finding some of the wave there as well), Toys R Us has been the most consistent with having them for us the past 2 weeks. If you are a TRU Rewards member, you are aware of the $10 coupon affixed to the front cover of their latest ad book. Well, this effectively lowers the $10.99 retail of these figure down to a much more reasonable price. While TRU has certainly been the worst for collectors and TVC, they seem to be coming through the most for us with this latest wave. Our pal Dan Curto at Rebelscum is right about this wave hitting one case per store. This wave is arriving in inordinately slim numbers so we encourage to really make an effort finding them. Good luck with your searches and may the Force be with you!

Another figure that Star Wars fans in general have been waiting for is the Rebel Fleet Trooper. The Vintage Collection update is amazing and getting some unnecessary flack for not having a holster. It would have been nice, but not all of them had holsters in the film (well, it isn't visible at least), so this action figure is correct and we really don't understand why there is so much whining about this. Tune in to today's Research Droids Reviews and see why you need the latest update to this key Rebel Alliance member. You won't be disappointed! We Guess You Must Really Love Captain Fordo!

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2011 at 03:22 PM ET |

Wow! You guys and gals are raving lunatics when it comes to the ARC Trooper Commander [Captain Fordo] figure! It has already broken into the top 100 Most Accessed Files list in our Research Droids Reviews and we wanted to take a moment and thank you for that, especially since we thought the Tartakovsky Clone Wars micro-series only appealed to a niche audience! Be sure to stop back tomorrow because we will be looking at the Rebel Fleet Trooper, another great figure and we'd love for you to give that figure the same kind of attention too!

New Deluxe Figures Have Hit TRU Stores In The East

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2011 at 01:21 PM ET |

The bad news is that they rang up for $19.99 each. Ouch! Look for additions to our Research Droids Reviews in the very near future.

Review: ARC Trooper Commander [Captain Fordo] - TVC - VC54

Posted by Paul | July 07, 2011 at 12:05 AM ET |

We personally have been waiting for a phase II Captain Fordo for over 5 years and now our dream has finally come true. We wish we could force you to read our Research Droids Reviews entry on this explosive figure and make you appreciate all the good that it contains because it is easily one of the three best action figures of 2011, but you'll have to choose your own path here. Keep in mind that the phase I option is just a little extra gift here and this release is really all about his phase II likeness. So look at this figure as the phase II Captain Fordo and you will absolutely be impressed! Please be sure to leave comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item! The Search For Luke Skywalker TARGET Exclusive!

Posted by Paul | July 06, 2011 at 06:51 PM ET |

We had trouble downloading them for some bizarre reason so our friends at Yakface.com came through for us and sent along theirs so we could share them with you. The newly announced and upcoming TARGET exclusive The Search For Luke Skywalker exclusive multipack will be a true hit this fall. Besides coming with an all-new Tauntaun that we saw leaked months ago, it also brings us a revised blue coat Han Solo (Hoth Outfit) and another stab at the phantom "running change" Hoth Rebel Soldier which may ultimately become more prevalent than the basic TLC BD 42 figure! Let's just hope a super-articulated Luke Skywalker (Hoth Outfit) figure is around the corner too!Click through to see larger these wonderful new images!

Posted by Paul | July 06, 2011 at 12:00 AM ET |

A pretty much flawless figure, Research Droids Reviews makes it a point to rave about this very long overdue update to most collector's favorite version of Han Solo. See why this is a must-have and let's hope that he becomes very easy to find before the next wave of figures hit! Please be sure to leave comments in our new Disqus comments section about this item! Random Acts Of Wallet Gouging!

Posted by Paul | July 05, 2011 at 09:39 AM ET |

It's déjà vu all over again! 2011 is quickly becoming more and more like the price-gouging era of the Legacy Collection. (And please don't act like you don't remember what happened when the prices got out of control, Big H.) JTA reader darthapathy sends us an image which looks to only represent a regional price hike right now hopefully, but may just be representative of the new trends hitting retail with regards to Star Wars toys. We hope it doesn't become a national disaster. Click through to see the disturbing news.

Review: Holographic Darth Maul - TSC - SAGA 048

Posted by Paul | July 05, 2011 at 01:40 AM ET |

While "holographic" action figures aren't the most exciting additions for your collection, sometimes they look cool. But Research Droids Reviews believes that Darth Maul is a character that should be approached differently since so much of his personality captured in the dace, something you just can't make out in translucent blue plastic! TARGET On The East Coast Receiving TVC Wave 7!

Posted by Paul | July 04, 2011 at 09:31 PM ET |

We thought you'd be happy to know that we've found wave 7 of The Vintage Collection at a NJ TARGET! Start up those toy runs now because ARC Trooper Commander and Rebel Fleet Trooper will absolutely be the most sought after "chase" figures for collectors!

We came across an unbelievable find today. It appears Walmart stores across the country are FINALLY giving up on their old stock. This report isn't really unique. We found no less than nine combination The Legacy Collection (blue) and Legacy Collection (red) figures for $1.50 each at a local Walmart in Burlington, NJ. Our bonus however was that we found 3 Clone Trooper (Coruscant Landing Platform) figures which are fantastic army-builder figures. We are happier than pigs in poo! Click through to see what else we found!

Review: Obi-Wan Kenobi - TSC - SAGA 047

Posted by Paul | July 04, 2011 at 07:48 AM ET |

While we waited for Hasbro to bring us a definitive Episode I Obi-Wan Kenobi (which should have come out in 2008's Evolutions assortment but was canceled and finally released in 2009's Legacy Collection as a basic figure), they held us over with this figure. And it was certainly a decent figure. Research Droids Reviews checks out what makes this version of Obi-Wan Kenobi a great "hold-me-over" figure. Important Charity Event At ImperialShipyards.net

Posted by Paul | July 03, 2011 at 05:58 PM ET |

Some of you have probably heard of the passing of Mike Martinez of Mercury Art Studios from a head on collision with a drunk driver last night. He was an avid Star Wars Fan and Customizer and is fairly well known on most Star Wars Forums. He has left behind a fiancé and daughter with the fiancé expecting another child. Needless to say the family is going to need some funds so ImperialShipyards.net have organized a Charity Drive through their website. Right now they have a paypal address you can make direct donations as well as an auction for a gentle giant clone trooper classics bust. They are also organizing a few other auctions that they will be releasing details about in this same forum thread. There Is Another....Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) Variation!

Posted by Paul | July 01, 2011 at 10:42 AM ET |

We are happy to report a brand new variation on the Luke Skywalker (Endor Capture) figure in The Vintage Collection. Remember that stark white name "pill" without the silvery detail? Hasbro has updated the figure's card back for the third time to include this little, but very important detail. Sorry for the rough photography, we'll take better pictures later, but click through to see this now much improved packaging!

TARGET Begins Marking Down Exclusives And General Product

Posted by Paul | July 01, 2011 at 10:35 AM ET |

Still not marked down are the 2009 and 2010 Legacy Collection Geonosis Arena Showdown sets, despite being available for $6.99 for weeks a year ago!

Review: Rep Been - TSC - SAGA 049

Posted by Paul | July 01, 2011 at 03:20 AM ET |

Gungans are actually a very cool species, so it's a shame one of their most prominent gave them all a bad name. But Been (not Rep Been - click through and you'll find out why) is the subject of today's Research Droids Reviews and we're pretty sure we can sell the point that you should pick him up.
